2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

She plays the two and three part inventions specially arranged for violin, cello and viola. She also plays the second partita in D minor. I think the two and three part inventions worked out very well.
Was that suggesting you weren't too impressed with the Partita, or just a comment on the success of the transcriptions? How was her Chaconne?

No, not at all. The Chaconne is very good as well. This is the only CD I have where the two and three part inventions are played in this sitting (and also the only recording I know off). That's why I mentioned it. The Chaconne have been recorded many times on solo violin.

Thank you, I have 17 CDs arriving today, I'll add this disc to my list for the next order.
On (HDCD) CD. I fancied some Dead and I haven't listened to this one in a very long time:
Second LP of this three-record set (first listen). An absolutely splendid version of "Braggin'":
Released 45 years ago today. U.K. Vinyl pressing....
On CD:-
Frank Zappa - Little Dots
Back to the Dead, for some Europe '72 on CD. One of my faves:
27 years ago today at Shoreline in Northern CA...also released as a DVD. The first half of 1990 was a great period for the boyz!
I've just been reading an interview with Ralf Hutter in today's Guardian, in which he talked about living in the Phineland, close to the Netherlands and Belgium, and how he'd travel to Paris. Trans Europe Express looks at Europe in a very positive way so I thought I'd play it - perhaps as an antidote to the prevailing negativity. 3-D has very good versions of the songs.
R.E.M. - Around the sun.
1970 - vinyl - US first pressing...
1970 - vinyl - UK (Philips) first pressing...

We had an artist friend paint a scaled up replica of that cover on our entire living room wall back in the 70's. The landlord, an old Italian dude, really flipped when he saw it.
