2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
A+ | WAV
(1994)
A change of music and themes with a run through of some of Little Feat's finest.
Just finished listening to this. For me a great album, but kind of special as well. Might not be everybody's thing. But if you are into varied progressive music and like concept albums, give it a try
This is a very fine album with vocals from the rather wonderful Simon Tander. We saw them play it live last year.
(1972)
Via Tidal Masters, the 2012 Steven Wilson remix.
This CD started my love for jazz music. It was about some 20 odd years ago. It was late at night and I was switching through the radio channels, not liking what I was hearing. Until I stumbled on a jazz channel which was playing a few tracks from this album. I knew right away that this was my kind of music. I was amazed by the beauty of this music. Before this I was mainly listening to (commercial) pop music. When the DJ announced the artist and the album I wrote it down. The next day I went to the music store. The had to order the CD. A Few weeks later I received the CD and I could enjoy the music of Barry Harris and start my journey in the wonderful world of jazz music.
This CD is part of the 'live at Maybeck recital hall' series which consist of about 40 solo piano recording by different artist. I own about 10 CD in this series. I wish the would release a box set of this series so I could by the complete set.
One of my favorite go to albums...

He often busks here in York. Also Chester.
Nice bloke! He once played New Model Army's Vagabonds for me as a request. (For those who don't know, he played it on the NMA album Thunder & Consolation.)

It took me a few listens to get into it!
What a good idea, I'm playing it now. I think it's great, one of his best.
