2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

A great string quartet composed 107 years ago. Berg's Op. 3 is very well played and recorded on this MD&G release. Also includes the Lyric Suite from 1926, and Webern's (two-minute) Three Pieces for String Quartet.

This is another one that almost passed by! It did actually make it into my list of interesting looking albums to check out later on Tidal. The problem was when I came to listen to it, I was still in hyper-active mood from a busy day. This is an album you have to have some time for. Don't just listen to part of the first couple of tracks and give up on it like I did through impatience. It is too good for that. Best listened to when you want to calm down and relax.
It nearly ditched it, then I heard some lovely singing reminiscent of a Tom Adams album (Silence) I discovered on here. I then started to listen in relaxed mood and was rewarded with a lovely mystical and absorbing musical experience.
Thoroughly recommended if you have the time and are in the right mood.

Some laid back jazz music on this hot summer night.
This CD because it's felt like the Deep South here in Sheffield today very hot and sticky.... 
Chuck Berry - Chuck.
The King's final album, his first since 1979, what a way to bow out ................... a belter! 
Trombone Shorty - Backatown.
Caught this guy on Jools Holland a couple of weeks ago, ............. a healthy blast of jazz / blues / funk .......... makes I smile.
