1979 - LZ - In Through The Out Door.

There are five different versions of this album on Tidal....

..... Absolutely mental!

In the end I decided to play the original vinyl..

Five Tidal versions? There were six different outer sleeves (different cover photos) issued with the original LP. The brown paper wrapper made it impossible to know which cover you were getting, though I assume the LPs all sounded the same.  Also fun to play with the watercolors on the inner sleeve, a feature I was never aware of until a couple of years ago. When I tried them recently my original issue inner sleeve I was pleasantly surprised that the watercolors sprang to life like as from day one. It remains one of the more innovative inner sleeve offerings.

Beck's "The Information" CD with it's blank album liner and 'colorforms' stickers allowing the user to create their own album art is perhaps a modern rival for creative sleeves.

The Very Best Of Deep Purple. On CD from 2000. Remastered in "Rhinophonic Authentic Sound". I'm really into this CD lately and have given it several bouts of repeated listens the past week.

Jerry Garcia Band - Kean College, February 28th 1980 - Live.

Just giving this a listen before the expected storm comes to clear the air just east of Nottingham. A great day as Notts. beat Leicestershire by a lot inside two and a half days - brilliant to be there to see the win and Samit Patel get clapped off for his magnificent match winning 247.

Loving Notts doing so well albeit in Division 2, and love that Samit is doing so well in his benefit season. He is such a star. I am a season ticket holder but sadly somewhat constrained by work. Looking forward to Lords a week on Saturday though. On the music front I need to find time to invest in The Dead and Garcia...think it should be down my street but never got into it.

Great to find another Notts CCC season ticket holder on this forum, and a potential Dead & Garcia fan - give it a listen there is loads available at ridiculous prices. Amazingly I cannot get to Lords due to other stuff, to be quite honest I did not expect it though.

Where was the rain?

Cheers.

2017 - Tidal...

Just when you think D&B is dead, Goldie manages to give it a kick up the backside with a new lease of life breathing new rhythms into it.

If you didn't get D&B  first time around, you won't get it now!

Now listening via my main system to this excellent album. A saxophone player with a new voice, driving intriguing music. I recommend this album to everybody who is into contemporary jazz which is lyrical and driving......, give it a listen.....

Nabbed this hybrid SACD last week and, like the music, it's sounding very good.
