What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
2017 - Tidal...
Benjamin Booker - Witness...
I am still not as fond of this solo outing as the others of Brad...
Vinyl.
One of the bands that should have made it, Jackie Leven was a great singer songwriter. Slightly disjointed album, songs vary in style, but great well played songs, and in Main Travelled Roads another of my recommendations for great simple haunting songs.
Vinyl
Last album of the night, the fine singer songwriter solo in Japan, Parker and acoustic guitar. With Tje Rumour he has one of the great backing bands, this album shows how well the songs stand up without the band.
After being gone for a couple of weeks on vacation......

I did have a lot of fun and no complaints......
next up......

Next up
Billy Joel - An Innocent Man
Next up............
Tracy Chapman - New Beginning
Next up.......
Harry Connick Jr - Star Turtle

Lifting a glass of vodka and playing in dedication to CNN (Clinton News Network) as they go down in flames and to all the lunatic unthinking flaming left-wing liberals who have and still defend such utter trash while riding the anti-Trump bus.
I've been listening to Pharoah since I was at school - over 50 years - and it never gets old.

A kind of raw album. Sometimes starting in normal jazz but then almost moving to rough rock with a distorted guitar, to again go back to silent. Will require some more runs to get the needed insight.
What's the album Bert? None of your covers are showing up.

Yes, much too young.
I've being playing this one:
Beethoven Symphony No3: Harnoncourt/Chamber Orchestra Of Europe
Exhilarating and elegant. Plenty of fire in the belly and passions run under. Funeral March can turn into a grey wall paper on some rendition, Harnoncourt keeps shifting moods and timing throughout, it remains compelling listen.

Seeing this post has led me to search more or the Montreal Tapes sessions. I have two, being one exceptional disc with Don Cherry and Ed Blackwell and a second with Paul Bley and Paul Motian. I shall have to investigate both the above recordings with Geri Allen.
BTW Charlie Harden's 50th birthday discs on the Naim label are also both very enjoyable, although not quite in the class of the Montreal Sessions IMHO. These are (were?) available as a triple vinyl set too.
