2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Because it's one of those albums that at the time of it first being released totally and utterly grabbed my attention, very different even from all the very different music that was arriving at the time. Also of course it's a fantastic album and is being played very loud indeed right now.
Someone had mentioned that they were playing a 24/96 copy of the remastered version of this album, so I thought I'd play the original vinyl version. One of their best studio albums in my view.

More conventional and mainstream sounding than his previous work (in various guises) this nevertheless is well up there with all of Simon Posford's previous offerings.
Warner / EMI issued another superb remastering of one of their classics. Whether you listen in redbook or hires, the sound quality is excellent, with none of the muddiness of the Great Recordings of the Century editions. The performance doesn't need advocating - this remains one of the best Carmens ever recorded, with De Los Angeles a more sophisticated than earthy gypsy. Beecham's conducting is magical.
Cheers

streaming my ripped recently purchased copy. Love this.
Arrived home and some CD's in the mailbox.
John Moreland - Big Bad Luv
..... recommended by members of this forum.
It took awhile for this CD to arrive since four CD's went missing in the postal service. A second batch was eventually forward by the vendor to replace 3 CD's and a credit issued for the 4th since it was a used copy.
John is sounding pretty good.....

I enjoyed Chris's 'Traveller' album quite a bit, wonderful voice, songwriter and musician. First time I heard Chris was on the NPR Tiny Desk series: http://www.npr.org/event/music...on-tiny-desk-concert

I totally agree. This is (probably) in my top 50 favourite jazz albums.

And this album would definitely be in my top 5.
Do you have one of the new Mobile Fidelity pressings?
Beethoven Symphony NO.3: Haitink/LSO
Much improved from his earlier ill-fated LPO effort.
Glenn Gould - Bach: French Suites 5 & 6, Overture in the French style.

Would you recommend it - or do you overall see it as an average recording of the music ?
