What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
There's a bit of a tenuous connection between this gentleman and the Floyd, so playing it seems kinda natural. On vinyl, from the 2007 version of the Fruit Tree box:

Why? Comedown after doing a model railway exhibition.

Andy Bey - Ballads, Blues and Bay.
Time for some mellow blues and ballads music.
From amazon:
Though he is a deftly understated piano player and a singer with a heartbreakingly pure voice, Andy Bey's recorded output is scant. Despite stints with the likes of Horace Silver, Max Roach, and Louis Jordan, Bey's only readily available work is this "comeback" disc released in 1996. Ballads, Blues & Bey is a showcase for Bey's range, which begins as a velvety smooth baritone and often launches into the tenor range to accommodate the emotional peaks and valleys in his repertoire of standards. Bey's treatment of those standards is deliciously slow. He draws out lines and adds pauses to squeeze a tune for everything it's worth. Bey uses the piano sparingly, only touching the keys to add color or nuance rather than rhythm and melody. Bey's take on these songs is delicate, as if too heavy a hand might tarnish the joy and sadness he's trying to evoke. A moving and beautiful disc
Prompted by Mike, Diana Krall - Turn Up The Quiet
....and now Chris Stapleton - Traveller
Why, well I was reminded of these two fine albums on here so naturally I am giving them a whirl. They are both rather good.
More of the beautiful doomed musician-poet of middle-class, Middle England. On vinyl. Stark, very stark:
Kevin, interesting coincidence as I've literally just ordered that very album. I know little about Nick Drake's (three?) albums but was aware of the following he had gained since his tragic early passing. Recommended to me over the weekend, so thought I'd plunge.
after a short intermission......next up

YZ, If you are interested in hearing Drake's work performed today you could do worse than go to a Keith James gig. Just google Keith James Nick Drake. There's an Autumn series...
I'll leave it to Keith to tell you about the ostensibly unlikely friendship between Nick Drake and John Martyn, by virtue of an Island Records connection.
Keith James' reinterpretations of some songs of Lorca also very worth hearing. Hopefully he'll play the odd one for you.
Purchased this on vinyl in the late 70s worn out long ago but I managed to find a CD replacement on an American website a couple of years ago still enjoy listening to it.
Lovely tunes for the end of the weekend.
The Temper Trap - The Temper Trap (Acoustic) (2013) 6 song EP

Thanks for the recommendation.....listened to a few songs from a couple of his albums on Spotify and decided to purchase a few of Andy's albums. I particularly enjoyed his Ain't Necessarily So opening couple of songs.
