2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Dirtwire - Riptide.
Another recommendation, a few weeks ago, from someone here. I've only just got round to listening on Tidal.......... very good indeed!
Can't really categorise this, but here's the spiel from their website :
"a mysterious crossroads of beats, blues, African, Asian, and South American sounds ..............the result is a rebirth of Americana and
a post-millennial psychedelic journey to down home goodness." .................... yeah, right!
In spite of the above tosh, it's really a very good album................. good shout, whoever it was.

Freddie Hubbard - Keystone Bop Vol 2: Friday/Saturday
.....love the trumpet.....
There's something fishy in Wiltshire just now.
This is one of my most frequently played albums.

Dave, I would say that this posting would have been from Steve - I certainly remember the original post on this (which turned into more than a couple of purchases)......slippery slope....
The Rolling Stones - !st. Album from the most marvellous mono remasters boxset.
OK Steve, let's play.
This TD 5 CD boxset again. Why? because I managed to find a used set in excellent condtion and it's the original 1994 release which unlike the 2004 reissue is not copy protected so it is now ripped accurately and streaming bit perfect.
Continuing on ......
Freddie Hubbard - Keystone Bop: Sunday Night
Would have loved to been in San Francisco for the three nights he was performing. Amazing!
being that it's Mahler's b-day, this one felt right. The Levi/Atlanta Mahler recordings for Telarc were fantastic...too bad they didn't finish the cycle. The 4th from Levi is really special!
Tim Richards Trio - Twelve by Three
Why? - its a very good modern Jazz recording, good quality & musicianship - is there such a word? Nice lively piano trio to chill out to with a rouge or two without being sleep inducing.
Friday is for Freddie .....
Its 1987 and Freddie returns to his classic style after play a soul/funk version for a number of years.
It is worth a listen......
Streaming

Another exceptional album from Joni.
Neil Young - Live at Massey Hall
Was quite the commonplace here, a couple of months ago. So I put it on my wish-list. Thanks, great album.
Lonely Robot, The Big Dream via Tidal.
First listen to this one, enjoyable it is too.

Freddie night? I'm in - The Night of the Cookers! CD-rip. What a band.
Two evolutions of John Lewis piano, one of these rare instances where #2 sounds better than #1:

Freddie Hubbard - Sweet Return. 1983. 24/192 flac. Nice band.
