Sean Rowe - Her Songs
Taken from the ANTI- web site (April 28, 2015)
SEAN ROWE HAS JUST RELEASED A NEW EP ENTITLED HER SONGS. THE RECORD AND ITS ACCOMPANYING VIDEOS DOCUMENT THE ACCLAIMED SINGER-SONGWRITER AND GUITAR PLAYER DELIVERING ACOUSTIC VERSIONS OF SIX COMPOSITIONS WRITTEN EXCLUSIVELY BY FEMALE ARTISTS - SADE, CAT POWER, NEKO CASE, REGINA SPEKTOR, LUCINDA WILLIAMS AND FEIST. Seakayaker, I too discovered Sean Rowe on here (Bert if I am not mistaken, many thanks) and I too think he is a wonderful artist. My favourite SR album remains New Lore, closely followed by Madmen - simply stunning.

.....in the short time I have a member of this forum I have been introduced to a number of musicians that I had not heard previously. My first two purchases were New Lore and Madman and both are fantastic, but I have found myself playing Madman more often. They are all good.

Bill Evans Trio - Sunday at the Village Vanguard
.......arrived in the mail this afternoon. Another recommendation from this forum.
Bill Evans (piano), Scott LaFaro (bass), and Paul Motion (drums). Original album produced by Orrin Keepnews. Recorded by Dave Jones live at the Village Vanguard, New York City, June 25, 1961.
Three songs in and enjoying it immensely!
Nice concert...
On CD:-
Egg - Egg
Steve Miller Band. The Joker (1973). On XRCD from 1998. Great album, not a fan of the flattish sonics of the XRCD format. The XRCD has great definition, clarity and resolution, but lacks the dynamic punch of the vinyl version.
Russell Malone - Time for the dansers
Joss Stone - Colour me free
The original, but canned, debut album by my favourite band.
Dead Heavens-Whatever Witch You Are
a little Friday morning music to help get this day started.
Sort of a hard title to find, this one is a Japanese pressing CD of the 1982-83 recording sessions. Good album with Scofield and Mike Stern on guitar, Al Foster on drums, Marcus Miller on electric bass, (the young) Bill Evans on sax, etc.
Not as good as the “Live in Japan” release (also hard to find) with the same band, but worth hearing nevertheless…
Brilliant posted:Emily Remler - Firefly. 1981. CD-rip. Thanks to the posts above!
Sadly Emily's Gibson ES330 in the picture above has been extremely badly damaged in a fire. It was the guitar Emily used for most of her studio recordings and live performances. There is a web appeal currently trying to raise $6,000 towards the cost of its restoration. If you do a search on line you can see pictures of it in its charred state. Very sad.

I did google - Shocking picture!
I was playing Beethoven's string quartet number 13 in Bb Maj by the Busch Quartet until I spotted that someone else on here likes the music of Emily Remler. Hence, I felt the need to play this, her third album as leader. No particular reason I chose this one, maybe for another picture of her ES330 - all her albums are most enjoyable. She was a highly talented jazz musician who died way too young.
Emily Remler - East to Wes. 1988. CD-rip
First up this morning.....
From the Album notes: We are the Regional de NY, a group of five New York musicians dedicated to Brazilian choro music. "Na Roda" is an attempt to capture the spirit of our regular rodas (jam sessions) -- all the playfulness, virtuosity, sensitivity, and joy that can come from performing live with close musical companions. The album features guest performances from several fantastic friends of ours -- the great Fred Hersch, Anat Cohen, and Eduardo Belo -- and is a window into the thriving choro scene in New York.
Looking for some work by Anat Cohen on Spotify and came across this album.
Joshua Redman - Freedom in the groove.
- Joshua Redman – Tenor (1, 3-5, 7-8), Soprano (2, 9), Alto (6, 10)
- Peter Bernstein - Guitar
- Peter Martin – Piano
- Christopher Thomas – Bass
- Brian Blade – Drums
Offa Rex - "The Queen Of Hearts" (2017) from Amazon: The Queen of Hearts is the debut album from Offa Rex, an adventurous project featuring English singer/multi-instrumentalist Olivia Chaney and The Decemberists. Produced and recorded by Tucker Martine (Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Neko Case) and Colin Meloy at Martine's studio in Portland, OR, the album draws largely on traditional English-Irish-Scottish repertoire to create a transatlantic musical conversation that flirts with psychedelia and folk rock while maintaining its own inimitable identity.
