What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
First, Lloyd Cole - Music in a Foreign Language
Then Fleetwood Mac - Tango in The Night
A gentle, mainstream start to a new day.
Jamie Cullum - Twenty something.
Continuing the Emily Remler theme from last night, this her second album as leader.
Got a bit bored of this (rather pointless) big Kraftwerk vinyl box set but I thought I would persevere with the last LP I've still left to listen to, Tour de France Soundtracks.
I fancied a bit of Frank, so here he is on a 1980 vinyl compilation LP:
Tom McClung trio - Burning Bright
From amazon:
Tom McClung is an American jazz pianist and composer. He has played and recorded with musicians such as Archie Shepp and Yusef Lateef and Marion Brown. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Archie Shepp Quartet. McClung's new solo album Burning Bright is a a trio set, where he is joined by bassist Matyas Szandai and drummer Mourad Benhammou. Ten of the album's eleven tracks are originals, in which the listener can hear echoes of Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane.

A massive talent and another whose life was cut too short by poor choices...
It's not that long ago when I played this last but ummagumma has its strange appeal…
Gorgeous old doo-wop for a Saturday afternoon - on 1970s vinyl...
From 1985:
Simple Minds, Sons and Fascination and Sister Feelings Call, UK first press (I remember buying these two, packaged together, the day they came out in september 1981). Their best albums IMO - they were never as good as this again.
Loved this Album since I first heard it back on release
just purchased the new 180 grm vinyl, stunning recording, base and drums just jump out st you, vocals have a real focus another one for the vinyl vs high res recording debate but not here
the term album does not seem to do the songs on this master peace justice

Hook,
All the recordings on the Indian Navigation label were made with tube electronics.
That is interesting! My copy of "Spirit Sensitive" is the Analogue Productions reissue (AAPJ 020). Will have to check out India Navigation's back catalog.
Am also a fan of the elder Freeman. Always thought that Von had a unique sound, and have bought most of his records.

In Emily's case it was heroin, which I read somewhere that she used to calm her nerves in performance.
Now her fourth album as leader...
Scandipoptastic UK first press vinyl.

Love the elevator booties on Bjorn. A must with bell bottoms.

Many years since I've listened to this album, ripped from a nice sounding MFSL 1989 disc.
