2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Sam Bush - Ice Caps Peaks of Telluride
Head-nodding, foot-tapping, smile-inducing bluegrass country rock. Love it.
1999 - UK - Double vinyl...
Rush, Hemispheres, because in weather like this after riding a motorbike, it takes me straight back to my youth. Original vinyl

Mindy Smith - Long Island Shores
Tidal. Mindy Smith is new to me, but this won't be the last time I listen to her. Lovely country-tinged songs, well sung and well played, the lyrical style and intonation remind me of early Suzanne Vega, this is a really enjoyable album. After a bit more research on Tidal listening to her albums, I can see a trip to the River coming up,soon, thanks for this James, a new artist to add to the collection is always welcome.
I've not done a search but this is a name I don't recall seeing before.
Fabulous guitar and and a well sung collection of British folk music. Probably his best album.

Following up the Mats Eilertsen album moving on to
The MAZE featuring Bendik Hofseth (saxophone), Mats Eilertsen (bass), Paolo Vinaccia (drums), Jacob Young (guitar) & Mike Mainieri (vibraphone).
These musicians are new to me and three songs into the album I would say it is a winner!
Lovely album, Heifetz is for me a more emotional player than his reputation might suggest, yes the control and technique are formidable, but he gets right to the heart of the Mozart. Haven't reached the Mendelssohn yet, but I remember it being a bit frenetic, I wait with interest. Excellent SQ for the period, some unobtrusive hiss just noticeable in quiet periods, lovely disc.
Pain Of Salvation, In The Passing Light Of Day, WAV CD Rip.
A very personal tail told with passion and emotion. Play this Loudly.
Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, easily my favourite Led Zep album, on 180g vinyl because I can;t be bothered searching for my original copy.

Playing the second CD from this Tangerine Tree volume (56), well recorded and a great set list, one of my favourites of theirs.
Hi Steve, how does the SQ compare with the Bootmoon releases of concerts around this period e.g. Preston 1980 or Aachen and Paris 1981?
Hi SJB, sorry I can't help you with a comparison as I don't have and haven't heard the Bootmoon releases.
Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston Live: - Tidal HiFI
Edward
This is a super album, very relaxed and lyrical.
Hi Steve,
Preston 1980 is also Tangerine Tree 16, Paris (Bataclan) 1981 was originally released as Tangerine Tree 14 (one of my favourites) and Aachen was Tangerine Leaves 7.
Jamie T, Carry On The Grudge, WAV CD Rip.
Emotional song writing/performing seems to be my thing tonight. This is well worth checking out.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Welcome to the pleasure dome, because it is a work of genius, well sides one and two are anyway. Original vinyl

Martin Simpson is brilliant. We saw him play at the local church, about 200m from our house, a couple of years ago and it was a great night.

That pretty much sums up some of the best Norwegian Jazz artists! During my university studies in the early nineties I went to a concert where Audun Kleive was playing. It was a fabulous concert - jazz at its best with spontaneity as I've never heard it before. His brother Iver Kleive is also an accomplished musician.
London Grammar, Truth Is A Beautiful Thing.
Got off my Butt to put the CD on for this one. This gets better every time I play it and I loved it the first time I heard it.

Mike Mainieri has recorded many albums under the band name Steps Ahead and has at least one solo album under his name. Great vibes player. Enjoy.
London Grammar - Truth is a Beautiful Thing on vinyl. (Not sure if I've ever declared the medium before, I mean it's music isn't it?!)
Why? Someone was playing it this afternoon.
The stars certainly aligned for this album.
I just love the angular guitars.

Jerzy Antczak. Ego, Georgius, WAV CD Rip.
If you like Prog and have not heard this album Please Please try it. I think It really is superb and its follow up String Theory is even better.

Thanks for the recommendation, checking it out and 3 tracks into 'Carry On The Grudge,' I find that Jamie T is worth exploring. A worthwhile listen indeed!

You're welcome. I was surprised how much I liked this album the first time I heard it. The first 2 are a little more raw.
