2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
On CD
Been a while since I've heard this. One of the benefits of Asset's album jukebox playlist option. Ripped CD.
Kasabian: West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. WAV via CD rip. A little Kasabian eccentricity next. Prob my fav album of theirs, although Velociraptor is good fun too. Must get the latest HD For Crying Out Loud at some point.

Gosh! Ages since I've Taste mentioned on here.
Tbe new album from Paul Heaton and Jacque Abbott. Not as immediately catchy as their previous outing, I'm on my second listen through. Heaton can still write great hooks, the lyrics carry his witty intelligence, and their voices blend as well as ever. It's clicked with me on the second listen, another fine album from one of our best songwriters.
I think it was Kevin-W who posted this a day or two ago when I made a mental note to pull out and play my CD. Right from the opening harmonised chorus of Love's In Need Of Love Today, that familiar, lovely Stevie magic just flows. One of those albums that always lifts your mood.

I don't know who could possibly object to a liitle Kadavar after their dinner?. Great old school rock, n metal, n'stuff.
"Seven stars wouldn't even do this magnificent album justice! Hints of Sabbath, Blue cheer, Grand funk and Uriah Heep. Iit's a heady brew indeed! Nods to Witchfinder general and Witchfynde its simply stunning. Nay mindblowing! If ur a fan of the stoner bands then this is totally essential." - A Happy Amazonian Punter
Golden Earring - Moontan
On CD
Tchaikovsky's sextet 'Souvenir de Florence'- surely among his best works - is here paired not with the usual Serenade or Rococo variations (both of which I find too syrupy to really enjoy) , but the unique and absolute masterpiece that is Richard Strauss' Metamorphosen.
Cheers

Marillion - Misplaced Childhood
The CD from the Steven Wilson Remaster box set

Dammit. I think I'm going to have to buy a copy of this album. Probably 40 years late, but better late than never.

"Probably 40 years late", absolutely, but never too late to get it into your collection.
Nathalie Loriers - We will really meet again.
- Nathalie Loriers - Piano
- Tinke Postma - Sax
- Nicolas Thys - Bass
This is a real fine CD with great lyrical playing by Nathalie Loriers and Tineke Postma. But also with some uptempo songs. Based on the lyrical songs only this might have been an ECM album imo.
Mannfred Manns Earthband - Nightingales & Bombers
On CD
The Saw Doctors, great Irish rock, infectious happy tunes played by a very tight band, fun lyrics, well sung. An album that always has me smiling, and if on my own singing (yelling?) along like a mad thing.

Better late than never. One of my all time favourite albums. I played it endlessly as a student and, as well as being a wonderful musical experience, it holds very special memories for me. I think (no, I know) Stevie is a brilliant artist. Not opinion, fact - and no one can tell be differently!
1984 - Vinyl - German pressing...
One of my 30p purchases from the weekend, excellent SQ and a good selection of proggy tracks (although I'm not sure I'd have expected REO speedwagon on it.)
B Ferry - Mamouna
Playing to the gallery with gorgeous late night sounds

Recently snaffled this 'previously loved' one from the Rain Forest. Yello remixing themselves and sounding mighty fine while doing so, great through headphones at the moment.
Need to check that one out.

Hard to believe that album is 47 years old. What's even harder to believe is that I can perfectly remember where, and with who, I was the first time I heard it.
