Chet Baker duo Philip Catherine - There'll Never Be Another You
Opportunity to hear Chet Baker on both Trumpet and Piano on this short four track album.

Did not purchase, I found it on Tidal.

EJ, I do not doubt your enthusiasm and usually can affirm your astute musical judgement. I am just wondering if you have heard the Murray Perahia and if so what are your thoughts on this recording? Prior to Ashkenazy, who were your go-to performances by?
Thanks,
Doug
8CD Box. Today I finished listening to all 8 CDs. Included are concertos for flute, horn, recorder, oboe, chalumeaux, piccolo, trumpet, basoon, oboe d'amore and corno da caccia. Beautiful melodies and rythms. Excellent performances. I fully recommend this collection.
The Black Crowes-Amorica
A+3. Downloaded from Qobuz 16/44.1.

Yep I agree it's a cracker and (no pun intended) arrived right out of the blue for me, the septuagenarians on great form.
There's 70 pages of speculations on IORR forum about a yet another new Rolling Stones album to be released in 2018 but let's seeā¦
This in any case is a good one.
A+3 | WAV
(1977 | 1995 remaster)
Four live sets from their 1977 tour of the USA when they were arguably at the height of their musical powers.
Tilt, Hinterland, WAV.
I think this is a really impressive first Album from Tilt.
"Steve, Dave and Robin are probably best known for being in ex-Marillion singer Fish's band, helping to write and record his solo albums as well as being involved in many world tours spanning over 20 years"
Classic Records 200g version. For absolutely no good reason, apart from the fact that they're my favourite group...
Fish, A Feast Of Consequences, WAV.
A modern classic, brilliant.

His best without doubt, even rivalling early Marillion.
Big thank you to whomever on the forum alerted me to the availability of this new release:
Another Classic Records 200g vinyl release. "No Quarter" is worth the entry fee on its own:

You made me think about how I would put them in order of my preference, so here goes;
Fugazi, Script, Straws, Feast then Misplaced Childhood, (Kayleigh and Lavender drop that one down for me).

I make regular visits to some of the excellent local used CD shops where I often stumble upon obscure treasures such as these. It's pretty much the only places left in my city where the staff are knowledgeable music lovers and not 18 year girls who only listen to pop. In fact that's where I first heard Philip Catherine.
Yet ANOTHER Classic Records 200g vinyl issue:
Last bit of Zep for now, and their strange swansong (ouch) on Classsic Records 200g vinyl:

great CD/recording on Telarc from 2007. Looks like it was recorded in DSD but I'm spinning the RBCD...fantastic sound!
