What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
A very nice collection of atmospheric pieces....
Taken a day off today to clean bikes and see my physiotherapist following yesterday's Prudential Ride London 100 sportive. This is about as energetic as I can cope with currently:
On CD:-
Alice Cooper - Killer
Had a great listen again to this album of the Tingvall Trio. They are such a driving trio. It's perhaps the wrong comparison but they bring the excitement and drive of E.S.T. while their style is less experimental than it was from E.S.T. - highly recommended of course...
Dmitri Shostakovich - Piano concerto No 1, Piano Quintet and Concertino for two pianos
Can't remember the last time I got so excited over a label. BineMusic. An affiliation of Kompakt are just on a roll putting out stuff that is the best. That is if your into high fidelity Ambient Electro Dub soundscapes....
listening to this great Petrushka performance with Stravinsky conducting...
Ivo Janssen - Bach: English suites

You are on a roll Ewe....keep 'em coming. Cheers.

I was reminded to play this by an earlier post on this forum. Great shout. I haven't played this for a longtime.

Chris Stapleton - From A Room Vol 1. Finally bought the CD after falling foul of Tidal's fair use policy . Definitely a contender for an album of the year. Eagerly awaiting Vol.2 due later this year apparently.

I couldn't leave it with just one MK album this evening, just as much as his voice and musicianship I really enjoy the short story telling through an album and its chapters.
Now Playing......
Russell Malone Quartet - Wholly Cats
Russell Malone (guitar), Larry Willis (piano), Rodney Whitaker (bass), and Yoron Israel (drums)
A positive comment by JEROEN20 above led me to Russell, could not find 'All About Melody' but did find a number of his albums on Tidal. A few tracks into this album and another terrific find of a jazz musician I have not listened to before. Love this thread!
A most enjoyable album. On vinyl.
.....next up in the queue....
With a mention from ewemon & NIGELB above I thought I would place Norman in the play queue.
Getting ahead of myself......

Hi Nick,
What's all this about a "fair use" policy on the Tidal thingy?
I've not noticed, (ignored?), that before, and since I'm reduced to Tidal only at the mo', best I get up to speed.
Randall Bramblett - Thin Places
Enjoying a blast of this one. Yee harr.....

Another old favourite from those little ol' boys from Texas.
Original vinyl
Why? Not been on for while.
Tingvall Trio - Vagen.
Inspired by Bert's post about the Tingvall Trio. I don't have the 'in concert' CD. So I'm listening to the Vagen CD.

I think it was Kevin-W who posted this a day or two ago when I made a mental note to pull out and play my CD. Right from the opening harmonised chorus of Love's In Need Of Love Today, that familiar, lovely Stevie magic just flows. One of those albums that always lifts your mood.
Dammit. I think I'm going to have to buy a copy of this album. Probably 40 years late, but better late than never.
i have posted about this one before -- its a 'go to album' when i am in a certain mood.
i'm sure you won't be disappointed...
enjoy
