It's been literally months since I spent a whole morning listening to music and I'm really enjoying it, despite my frequent trips elsewhere. This album is a bit more upbeat.

Because I fancied listening to more from MK and this one is another delight.

"When they agreed the unwritten law that time-honoured artists with brilliant track records get less creative as they go on, Mark Knopfler obviously wasn’t paying attention. He was too busy writing, recording, touring and enjoying it all. Get Lucky was Knopfler's fifth studio album of the decade and recorded at his award-winning British Grove Studios in West London and co-produced with long-time cohorts Chuck Ainlay and Guy Fletcher. It is a beautifully crafted exploration of a lifetime of musical roots, fluently combining folk and blues with his original song writing and vivid observational lyricism." - Shamelessly pinched blurb

Michael Franks - Abandoned garden

I remember when I used to live in London that this was played endlessly on Jazz FM (when it actually broadcast jazz). Thanks for the reminder - I'll have to play it again.

I'll be interested in your views Jeroen, I bought that after seeing someone playing it here, and it's overtaken her older version as my favourite performance of the Goldbergs. Indeed, I've just brought the bedroom Qb into my office and assumimng nobody rings me I'll spend my last half hour or so of the working day enjoying this.

Next up.......

Herbie Hancock - River: The Joni Letters

Herbie Hancock - River: The Joni Letters

A mention from JEROEN20 above peaked my interest, and reading the notes by Thom Jurek on Tidal peaked my interest even further.

Herbie Hancock (piano), Dave Holland (bass, guitar), Lionel Loueke (guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Wayne Shorter (soprano & tenor saxophone, vocal), Leonard Cohen (vocal), Norah Jones (vocal), Joni Mitchell (vocal), Corinne Bailey Rae (vocal), Luciana Souza (vocal), & Tina Turner (vocal).

Looking forward to this.......

Edit: Opening track 'Court & Spark' with Nora Jones vocals in a jazz band setting, WOW!

I've not played this for a while. Most enjoyable. Maybe this will pique your interest.

Hopefully rapidly followed by the Nova String Quartet.

Rather more like Tangerine Dream than Steve Hillage, but highly enjoyable all the same. Great music to chill to.

Hi Eoink,

I have just finished listening to it and I am very impressed with this performance. I think this will be my favorite as well. Tomorrow, I'll have a second listen.

Regards, Jeroen.

Because he did make some excellent solo albums and singles, this is one of my favourites of his.

Leszek Mozdzer with Lars Danielsson, Zohar Fresco & Atom String Quartet - Bass at Berlin Philharmonic III

At the recommendation of HUNGRYHALIBUT, I have placed this album up next in the queue and I am looking forward to the journey.

.....in the meantime I am enjoying 'Herbie Hancock - River: The Joni Letters.' Highly recommend the album.

I hope you enjoy it. There are six of these Jazz (not bass!!) at the Berlin Philharmonic albums, of which I have five, and this one is probably my favourite.
