What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
beautiful recording on harmonia mundi from 1995...
Duke Ellington meets Count Basie
Now playing......
Mark Knopler - All The RoadRunning
Mark performing a duet with Emmylou Harris. Something new to me and sounds like a fine mellow start to the day.
.....in the queue, next up
Mark Knopfler - Golden Heart
Going back to the '90's...... it appears Mark had about 30 other musicians contribute to this album. Looking forward to it.....
Stoner rock
This excellent Santana album 'Moonflower' 1977 double LP, including tracks recorded live in Europe in December 1976.
The Traveling Wilburys
The wilburys were just lovely, not easy to find these days on cd

Yes a great album, but for me the 2016 release 'Santana IV' is the best. The frequently changing Santana band lineups has been a variable for finding the classic Santana sound. 'Santana IV' is a reunion of all the members of the 1971-1972 band & for me its the best lineup of all - & this album sounds like it.

Probably my favourite Santana album.

Saw them at Wembley on this tour, just great, missed the train home, had to get the milk train out of London, remember those.
Van Morrison - Its Too Late to Stop Now - Live in Los Angeles and London
Gosh, I enjoyed that. Why should anyone be interested? A more relevant question is why I have left it so long to listen again to this classic live Van album.
If you like VM and you have not given this one a go, you owe it to yourself have a listen. For a live album it is wonderfully recorded. Just listen to his extended version of Caravan, bonkers and wonderful at the same time.
And if you dislike VM, well......I'm sorry......you are simply misguided.
Dave Gunning - Lift
Why? Look, I always try to give a reason or comment as to why others might be interested. But this time I have no reason. OK! Does there always have to be a reason? I have no reason. OK!
Richard, I know I have let you down, I've let the forum down and more importantly I have let myself down. Sorry!
Phew! Glad I got that off my chest.
Tidal
Sung in French. We are shortly off to Provence, so it seems apt.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Claudio Arrau (piano)
Haim, you are on a real vinyl tear today digging out some real treasures?
I am not fortunate enough to have the vinyl but you have inspired me anyway to follow you with the F major variations followed by the c minor variations - one of my own favourite hobby horses. Both recorded at Johannesstift, Berlin, November 1968.
Now playing.....
An Evening With Chick Corea & Herbie Hancock
Why - because it's Chick Corea & Herbie Hancock. There is a Columbia Record version released an earlier than this album by Polydor and will have to look for that as well.
Twelve minutes into the first track and it is fun.....

Yep it was a great tour and the band were on fire on the 4 nights I saw them but the Empire gig was the best of them
