Melvin Taylor & The Slack Band - Dirty Pool. CD-rip. Covers of SRV tunes and more (of the Blues that is)!
2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
2016 - Double CD(rip)...
Collection of unreleased, reworked rare staff from the best band-(imnsho) to ever come out of Glasgow...and they were bloody good live.

Great stuff Tony I enjoy them alot, not wanting to get into a fight over best contemporary Glaswegian bands but Mogwai (for me) are right up there.

Erm, surely not forgetting these sterling chaps
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - 5 Classic Albums.
Sean Pinchin - In Transit
I like his voice and his acoustic guitar playing. Don't let the ginger beard put you off!
On gold(!) vinyl
Why? Brummie rock time! Incidentally, I have seen Magnum several times but never 'deliberately'. They were either a support band or on a festival line-up I was at.

A+3 | WAV
(1997)
Rather special alt rock from a rather special Glaswegian band.
1994 - Give Out But Don't Give Up - Primal Scream - CD (rip)...
Ok, I may have been a bit over zealous... they are all good.
Peace!
Vinyl
Why? It was next to Magnum when I filed that away and I thought, why not?

What better to chill to than one of Ray L's albums? I can't decide which is best between this, Trouble and God Willing' The Creek Don't Rise as all three are superb.
2014 - reissue on 180g blue vinyl...
A little light blues...
Another dip into Lizz Wright's oeuvre with Salt, more gospelly and torch-jazzy than the Orchard, but a lovely album, she's got an amazing voice. My basket at the river will be filled tonight I think. Thanks again to all of you who ntroduced me.
Massive Attack - Protection
Today's Oxfam find. Pleased and surprised to find the voice of Tracey Thorn on track 1.

Excellent choice Chris.

Greg Brown - In The Dark With You
The journey continues with exploring Greg's catalogue. This album from '95, and the review on Tidal, "Humorous and sardonic reflections on domestic life and aging, from a journeyman folksinger."
I'm enjoying the music.....
Another play for Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott's new album. Lyrically it has all Heaton's trademark witty cynical intelligence, musically it's definitely growing on me, their voices blend as well as they did back in the Beautiful South. Another Heaton penned album makes its way into my mental list of favourites.

Thanks mate. Now she's on 6 too :-)

Leïla Martial - BAABEL
Taking a lead from BERT SCHURINK, I took a look at the album. It was listed under jazz so I thought I would give it a listen even though Bert mentioned, "It requires some courage to listen to this one," and after listening to four of the tracks I can understand his comment. She has a wonderful voice and at times some nice choral work, sound effects, and musicians supporting her. I will continue the journey to the end, I find the music intriguing.

While the arrangements are pretty nice..
Always felt the same about this album Bert

Time for some blues.
I am intrigued as I haven't come across them before I think.
Mozart, Oboe Quartet & Horn Quintet, ASMF Chamber Ensemble
For me, the sparser sound of these smaller ensembles emphasises Mozart's genius all the more. Lovely stuff.
Bill Evans Trio: You Must Believe In Spring:
Upon Max Massimo's kind recommendation. First spin.

Pink Floyd. Wish You Were Here (1975). On remastered CD from 2011. Not my go-to format for this album, but thought I'd give the digipak version some exercise. Whatever the case, there's no denying a splendid recording.
I use this to help calm the baby before she goes to sleep. Works every time. Animals worked for my second child. Something about Gilmour's playing that just soothes the soul.
