2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Tenuous link (with Eric via John Mayall) to this, but mainly because I needed that love so bad..
..more tenuous still to Jimmy Page ( again via John Mayall) . Babe I'm gonna leave you.

Now playing.......
Herbie Hancock - River: The Joni Letters
I was really impressed with this album 6 days ago, so I'm going to give it another listen.
Really enjoyed the music and the cast of vocalists that sang Joni's songs.
Herbie Hancock (piano), Dave Holland (bass, guitar), Lionel Loueke (guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Wayne Shorter (soprano & tenor saxophone, vocal), Leonard Cohen (vocal), Norah Jones (vocal), Joni Mitchell (vocal), Corinne Bailey Rae (vocal), Luciana Souza (vocal), & Tina Turner (vocal).
If you have not given it a listen then you are missing a fantastic album.
JMHO & of course YMMV
RIP Glen...
Now Playing.....
Greg Brown - In the Hills of California - Live From The Kate Wolf Music Festival 1997 - 2003
Continuing to explore the catalogue of Greg Brown, enjoying his music.
Less rhythm oriented, but still beautiful modern jazz....
, during workout
Just re-released on Bandcamp with new stereo versions of some tracks.
Bach Cantatas

BWV 225 Motet / 152 / 122 / 28 / 190

its like you wandered into a pub to find all your idols on stage. Sadly, they'd all been in the pub since dawn and forgotten even basic mike technique... Still great stuff though
I had a Norwegian friend that wandered into a what he termed as a small local hall only to find the above playing a warm up gig before a tour.

My first run through with this collection from the old prog'ers ripped CD 1 for now.
this is so spooky Steve, I had this in my hands as a purchase yesterday - as you say, curious to hear how it sounds after quite a number of years. Followed by:
one that divides opinion; the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end... I remember getting this from a guy at work who got it from a record club: bad move, warped to buggery, watching the stylus as the LP turned either made you feel seasick or like you were on a merry go round!
Continuing on a country theme.

What better to chill to than one of Ray L's albums? I can't decide which is best between this, Trouble and God Willing' The Creek Don't Rise as all three are superb.
Really enjoying this after a manic day in the classroom. Thanks for putting me onto it.

Wichita Lineman and Rhinestone cowboy are the two tracks of his that often start playing in my head for reasons I will never know!

Paul, TLLDOB was a favourite of many Genesis fans but as you say divided opinion. I liked them all the way through from the Peter Gabriel days to about '77 after which they became too commercial and 'poppy' for my tastes at the time. Your story of the warped LP made me chuckle reminding me of my Groundhogs album Split that my brother carelessly left on a window ledge in the sun. To say I was horrified is an understatement.
