Tony, really enjoying this. Some lovely melodies and proper supporting solid bass lines.

1st run for me, sounds a bit like a mixed bag to me. I am missing a bit the cohesion in the album, regardless of the more poppy style - which is a matter of taste. Will need a couple of runs more to get a more clear verdict on this one...

(2002)

This has always been a really good compilation of the Peter Green early 'Mac music which includes the rarely published but utterly wonderful Dragonfly, written and played beautifully by Danny Kirwan.

Yundi - Chopin Nocturnes. CD-rip. I also like the emotional 'interjection' by Yundi.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea these albums existed. I'm just listening now on Spotify/Sonos system. Sounds great. Interestingly, the track listing on the albums on Spotify don't seem to match the album shown above even though it has the same name and cover art etc.. for example, the 25+minute (!) Rattlesnake Shake is last track on volume 3 on Spotify versions. Odd.

Kevin, these 3 are well worth getting if you are into this Peter Green period. An easier and cheaper way of getting all three CDs nowadays is to buy the FM triple album box set from "the River" for under £13 new,  simply called Boston and has this album art:

The individual albums tracklists and running times should look like this, I haven't checked Spotify:

Thanks for this a Steve. I'll assume that  the quality of mastering and transfer is similar between the 2 sets and order myself a copy of 'Boston' . Cheers.

Agreed. That one I have.

They are not the best recordings in the world Kevin but having said that they are way better than the earlier attempts to get these released and sound pretty damn good to my old ears, I'm 95% sure that this should be the equivalent in SQ to buying the individual albums, the kicker being to get you hands on volume 3 is upwards of £150, and there is no reason why it should have that sort of price tag attached to it.

Some nice blues.

By default I tend to go for Mary's earlier albums so on this occasion I paused and went for this. Very nice it is too.

From Blues to Bach:

Piotr Anderszewski - Bach Partitas 1,3 and 6.

From Amazon:

The flourish that begins the Sixth Partita's Toccata is a hint of things to come--this is Bach sounding easy without skimping on its monumentality. The following fugue is gently played but absolutely clear. Elsewhere, Piotr Anderszewski might remind you of Glenn Gould--his attacks on fugal entrances are sharp and purposefully noticeable--as in the fugue in the Gigue that ends the Partita No. 6. He embellishes the written score nicely in the Allemande of the First Partita, and just to hear him play the final Gigue from the Partita No. 1 is enough reason to buy this CD: the playing is fleet and spotless, the rhythm never flags. The effect is exhilarating. Throughout, Anderszewski's dynamic range is vast, with soft passages lolling us into relaxation and the grander moments truly being grand. This is a beautiful recording.

Another one from the vaults that I have not listened to for a while. Most of the tracks are funky and cheerful but the more downtempo "Ascension" is the best track on the album imo.

I am liking this too. Takes me back to my yoof when I enjoyed a bit of jazz/funk. First track reminds me of George Benson, the second track reminds me a bit of Level 42. That is as far as I have got.

Pretty sure I am going to enjoy the rest.

Finally managed to download this from Qobuz 24/96 FLAC. It failed three times to download owing to the statement "The download was interrupted". On the third time, this was after 2.5 hours - Grrrrr!!!!!

It's going to take a while to connect properly this album, which is just what I thought with 'Hand Cannot Erase', but I can recognise the trademark SW sounds.

Although the SQ is good, being 24-bit files, it's disappointing that you don't get any more artwork / booklet information when downloading.

Otis Taylor - Hey Joe Opus Red Meat

Because someone posted an Otis Taylor album which reminded me that is has been far too long without a listen to this one.
