Vangelis Themes, original vinyl. Just sets the mood with late night fireside wine, coffee, crossword and significant other.

just watching Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and the music reminded me that I hadn't listened to this in a while.....

Great album - one of my world music favorites!  Wonderful blend of Flamenco and Arabic. Also love their next two albums, Temporal and Cruzando el Rio.  Thanks for the reminder - have queued it to play next!

Nobody really knows the etymological origin of the word "Tango". It is supposed to be an african word referring to a place for dancing.

Green Day. Shenanigans. On CD from 2002. Rarities, b-sides and covers, this album is a relative obscurity, but it's a real rocker.

2010  - Vinyl box set...

Compromised by the record company demands of a more pop "sound", it can get a little tiring at times but Alison's voice just about makes up for it.

I'm a big Goldfrapp fan but i just can't love this album like the others

James - how could you not love a Goldfrapp album?

I know - i've given myself a good talking too and have it loaded onto my Sony for a listen at work today. I'll crack this one

A very fine instrumental album from Steve Rothery occasionally  joined by Steve Hackett making some good atmospheric prog rock."Steve has described his intention to create ‘cinematic’ music that could stand as a film backing track, and that is precisely what he has achieved."

I have this on vinyl which is 45rpm. I discovered accidentally that it works rather well at 33rpm too!

The Rolling Stones - Totally Stripped.

Picked this up this morning from the Post Office, now playing the ripped CD ........... a compilation from various venues of their '95 "Stripped" tour.

Following the release of both Blue and Lonesome, and the mono boxset, something of a Stones fest lately .......phew.

Mahalia Barnes - Ooh Yeah - The Betty Davis Songbook.

This also arrived today, boy can this lady sing.

Here's an example from Joe Bonamassa's last album.

Don't worry, the video kicks in following the intro.

agreed, I found myself totting up the years on quite a few albums and came to the revelation that I am getting older & no longer the young stripling that first bought the albums.....although in my  mind.....

Scrap last one.

Otis Taylor - Recapturing the Banjo.

Continuing my journey of exploration into Otis Taylor's music, this is a cracking album.

His usual trance blues, incorporated into the premise that the banjo was indeed originally an African instrument ........ recommended.

Scrap last one again. Going through bargain basements to find a good n.

Edit: oh yeah love this one

I just recently discovered Bennie Wallace (on Tidal). I was sold from the second I heard him playing. What a great sax player he is. He has a very energetic style of playing. You definitely can hear Coltrane in his style. Which is a good thing of course. This CD is a recording of a live performance in Germany. All the tracks are great. The band's interpretation of ' Honeysuckle Rose' is brilliant.

Strolling Bones - Blue & Lonesome.                   Ditto - in mono boxset.                                        and again - Totally Stripped.

These three albums have rekindled my love of the Stones.

The first one has them sounding better than they have in years.

The mono boxset is how these choons were meant to be listened to, whilst the final one, with BluRays of the Paris, Amsterdam and  London Stripped concerts, together with the accompanying CD is a real Stonesfest.

I've probably been banging on a bit about these, but, they really are rather good folks.
