Radiohead - OK Computer

So good that it's had another play since i've been home.

Now to have another go with the 'difficult' Goldfrapp album

2016 - Tidal...

Having missed the  box set I'll have to content myself with listening to this on tidal.

The most creative and best thing to come out of north of the border in the last few decades. Ah, and there's Kirsty Young, of course!

The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed - from the superb "in mono" boxset.

I'm festing already Dave and celebrating the mono box set which has just been ordered.

The Rolling Stones - Totally Stripped.

Have a look / listen to this one .................. 5 X BluRay discs of the "Stripped" tour + a CD compilation of the same, spread over the three venues.

It only arrived today, and the CD, (different tracks from the previously issued one), contains some of the best live versions ever. IMHO.

They're certainly releasing a flood of good stuff at the moment! I'll try and get a listen to 'Totally Stripped'.

2010  - Vinyl box set...

Compromised by the record company demands of a more pop "sound", it can get a little tiring at times but Alison's voice just about makes up for it.

I'm a big Goldfrapp fan but i just can't love this album like the others

James - how could you not love a Goldfrapp album?

I know - i've given myself a good talking too and have it loaded onto my Sony for a listen at work today. I'll crack this one

I empathise fully with you. I bought 'Tales of Us' after all the rave comments on this forum. I must have played it a dozen times, but just couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I might just give it one last go at the weekend.

Played on iPhone through Bose noise cancelling headphones whilst flying back to civilisation after a couple of days in the south of France.

Goldfrapp's face seems always obscured somehow. A full on face on just hasn't registered for me. An aloofness that always has her identity not really open to clearly appreciate how attractive her face is. Same with her music.

The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street.

Just by way of a change from the mono boxset.

Nineteen years after its release, I've just discovered this, having played the original Kultrum album yesterday. The original was a Dino Saluzzi solo effort, whereas this has the excellent Rosamunde Quartett. Anja Lechner, their cellist, has done a lot of tango recordings and plays a prominent role in this album. It's very fine indeed, neither better nor worse than the original, just different.

OK, I'm giving it a go now. Hmm...

It the 24/96 version, playing through NDS. At least I can look on the iPad to see how much longer before the end of the track.

EDIT: Just spotted my foot tapping.

One of their finest to finish of my listening tonight...

Having a listen to this. I remember hearing 'Utopia' playing when i was in my local Our Price Records and immediately bought the album (ah those days of actually going into a music store...) which set me off on a love for Goldfrapp (apart from the 'difficult' album)

I can see why you'd want noise cancelling headphones.  I've tried listening to them and they have the same effect on me as Goldfrapp have on you. It would be really dull if we all liked the same thing.

Clive to be candid, if Tales Of Us doesn't do it for you with Goldfrapp then its probably best to give up on her music...

Yeah, that's what I've just done (I did get as far as track three!). Restored equilibrium and musical enjoyment with this:

The Animals - Best of.

Just as a change from the Stonesfest, same era, different band, bloody good!

After a bit of a Radiohead / Goldfrapp fest today, i've got something rather delightful cued up on the Melco to end this evenings listening.

Melody Gardot - My One And Only Thrill

Caravan - Paradise Filter

CD WAV RIP to NS01, streamed through NDS.
