2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Melody Gardot - Currency of Man
After seeing the mention from MDS and then the comment from STEVEE_S, I needed to give this album a listen.
From the opening track with the voice, she had me, the musicians backing up Melody are wonderful. Hopefully the rest of the album keeps getting better, very nice.
Well, seakayaker, if you like Currency of Man I can strongly recommend these two albums, too:
and:
Now playing some funk - George Clinton.

All great stuff. My One and Only Thrill was the album that introduced me to Melody Gardot, and this was when I was just discovering the wonders of internet music streaming. The fact that you can look at a thread like this on a forum and think 'OK, I'll play that', and just do it there and then, is a novelty that has never worn off. 'internet is amazin'!
Thanks to Brilliant for posting this last week, a lovely performance of the Double, Ma's playing is wonderful there, and Perlman's excellent in the Mendelssohn, Barenboim getting the CSO to be a great partner to the soloists, fine music making indeed, thanks again.
A bit of Keith, Gary and Jack on CD, and why not?
On CD:-
The Pretenders - Alone
On CD:-
The Rolling Stones - Rolled Gold
I think Adele's one of the best young songwriters we have, and sings with skill and emotion. This was the first of her albums I listened to, and I became an instant fan. Class act.
I'm not the biggest Eric Clapton fan, but always enjoy this LP
Next up, now playing.....
Melody Gardot - My One And Only Thrill
With so many recommendation how does a man resist! 'Currency of Man' was excellent so it is so easy to continue and explore Melody's complete catalogue.
Thanks, MDS, STEVEE_S, and SONGSTREAM for your comments and recommendation!

One of the best British Rock Soul Blues bands I have heard in years.
Gave this a quick listen on Bandcamp, and they do sound very good, so have ordered the CD.
Hewitt's second recording of the Goldbergs, 24/96 FLAC download. Even better than her earlier recording, this is my favourite performance of one of the towering works of music, brilliant and joyous.

A bit of useless info for you.
You couldn't tape some of the white label promos for the album as the record company had a 600mhz sine wave tone introduced on to the record so when you went to tape it and playback that was all you heard.
Now Playing....
Melody Gardot - The Absence
The journey continues exploring Melody's catalogue.
Notes from Tidal: If Melody Gardot's 2009 sophomore effort, My One and Only Thrill, sustained the sultry, atmospheric vibe of her critically acclaimed 2006 debut, her 2012 follow-up, The Absence, is a bit of a creative departure for the vocalist. Apparently inspired by her world travels, and specifically by a trip that brought her to the desert around the city of Marrakech, the album moves her away from smoky, small-group jazz and into a bright, if still bedroom-eyed, rhythmically exotic sound. Produced by guitarist/composer Heitor Pereira, the album is a lush, somewhat orchestral album that finds Gardot delving into various Brazilian, Spanish, and African-influenced sounds -- including bits of samba, tango, bossa nova, and calypso -- that evince her global journey. ....... ~ Matt Collar
An excellent, classic album...
From 1992, a favorite Maybeck Recital Hall Series:

Singularity is the sixth and most recent solo album released in 2010 by Robby Krieger, former guitarist for The Doors. However don't expect the Doors or any vocals. This is Robby doing what he does best playing some beautiful instrumental Jazz fusion guitar.
Vinyl.
I feel like having a Relatively Obscure Artists day today.
Beginning with this - Winchester-born songwriter comes to London, makes low-key but rather good album:

More semi-obscurity. Canadian keyboardist-cum-engineer's debut album from 2007, on lovely vinyl:
Just finished:
The Bench Connection - "Around The House In 80 Days" (2007) A one-off release by Matt Deighton and Chris Scheehan
Chris Robley - "The Drunken Dance Of Modern Man In Love" (2007)
