What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Budgie - Bandolier
Quator Ysayee playing Mendelssohn, sensitive versions of two major pieces I don't listen to enough.
Chris Stapleton - From A Room: Volume 1
For such a recent release, this has become an old favourite rather quickly.
Goodness this gentleman can hold a choon.
Now Playing.......
Agitation Free - Shibuya Nights Live In Tokyo
and
Branford Marsalis - In My Solitude Live At Grace Cathedral
I wanted to do a direct comparison to the last two albums I played on my ProAc D2 Response speakers. I am really impressed with the Ovator S-400 speakers.....
Because the title song from The Kamikaze Pilots is such a love song gem
And for what Manchester is and was:
Earlier...
After a fast, hard bike ride round the lanes.
Urszula Dudziak and Superband live at the Jazz Cafe.
Now Playing.....
K D Lang - Shadowland
K D is sounding fantastic!
Now Playing......
Rebecca Pidgeon - Slingshot
.....breaking something out that has not been played in quite awhile.
Now Playing.....
Antonio Forcione - Sketches of Africa
Opportunity to hear multiple guitars cello, flugelhorn, kora, and vocals along with African influence in the music. The music is wonderful.
Now Playing......
Dexter Gordon - Homecoming - Live At The Village Vanguard
Its after 5 and time for something live & loud, and swinging......
Alison Krause - A Hundred Miles Or More: A Collection
Moving towards the end of the day, a nice time for a change of pace. Alison has an extremely large group of musicians that join her for the 16 tracks on this album. If you like Alison, then this is worth a listen.
Cd rip, not vinyl as implied by the cover. Part-exchanged that a long time ago.
1st run....

A bit dissapointing as it is too much ECM-ish type of album. The wrong balance between contemplative nice sounding and real music.... I would like a bit more of melody and rhythm ....
David Fray - Bach / Boulez
He is again reinventing himself, I will still need a couple of runs to get completely into this...
Just came out today, great music...

Unfortunately real music requires real talent which at ECM appears to be the exception rather than the rule nowadays. To me a lot of what is being produced lately is closer to elevator music than to jazz. But to each his own...
Peter Hill - J.S. Bach, The French suites
Known numbers - but still sounding fine when you get a new recording...
