2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Strewth, I didn't realise he was 193 years old. Still looks sharp in that hat though
Last shot!
Now playing.......
B B King with Eric Clapton - Riding with the King
A mention by Gianluigi above got me moving to take B B an Eric out for a spin. Great stuff!
Moving away from guitar to some rather delightfully playful Mozart
Image will not appear so:
Mozart
Serenade in E-Flat Major, k.375; Serenade in C Minor, K.388 (384a) on CBC SM5053 performed by The Toronto Chamber Winds from 1986.
Now Playing......
Anita Baker - Rhythm of Love
Anita has one fine voice, strong and sweet, her music just brings a smile to my face......
This seems somewhat fitting as a rain storm nears
CD. I have finished Book 1. Excellent. Now listening to Book 2. Any recommendations in addition to Gould's version?
Now Playing.....
Anita Baker - Giving You The Best That I Got
Doubling down with Anita and taking her out for another spin...... Super Vocals!
Now Playing......
Tangerine Dream - Finnegan's Wake
Random pick, something different prior to dinner being served......
Streaming Tidal. L'Arpeggiata / Christina Pluhar - Los Pájaros Perdidos. Extraordinary Performances.
Now playing.....
Nigel Good - Nothing Out Here
See if I can get the heart rate up and quicken the pulse to go with the cup of coffee I'm having before heading off to bed ....... Not to sure this is a good idea!

I would suggest it's a toss up between Schiff's remake for ECM or Angela Hewitt's second recording for Hyperion. Schiff's remake is more varied and colourful, and better recorded, than his first, but at the cost of losing some of the earlier version's pulse and restraint. With Angela Hewitt the choice is easier, her second recording is superior in all respects to her first, except possibly the choice of instrument.

UK first press vinyl from 1982. Why, I've no idea - I just had a hankering... but the first side ("Nipple to the Bottle" especially) is pretty jaw-dropping
Sonata D.845, absolutely nailed by Paul Lewis. On CD.
Cheers

I love 'out there' music like this - open-ended, dense, ever-shifting, super heavy... here on a BGO LP from the late 1980s:
I thought that was actually was 80s album until I looked it up and found it was first released in 1972. It's one of his more 'interesting' albums for sure.

It got a right critical mauling when it was first released - too 'rock' for the jazz crowd, too dense and tune-free for the rockers. History has been kind to it, however, and it's now seen as something of a classic.
Now Playing.......
Mahler: Symphony No. 9
Just downloaded from Qobuz and giving it first listen
A simple song, but very powerful and moving.
One of Warp Records Artificial Intelligence series classics..
