What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
More Miles. This time, the '69-74 period decontructed and remixed by Bill Laswell. Original 1997 double vinyl:
This Rigoletto from 1971 certainly ranks as one of Pav's best recordings. Besides him and Milnes' powerful Rigoletto, Sutherland's Gilda sounds a bit undercharacterised, but both diction and steadiness were as well as they would ever be (her characteristic swooping is minimally present), and she does well with the role's high range. Her Act I duets with Pavarotti are a dramatic and musical highlight (their Addio... ends with a high D-flat in union).
The fresh coat of paint takes care of the peak distortions that were present in its earlier incarnations, and sounds very well. On my stereo the overall sound picture is balanced, with a slight tilt towards the lean side (noticeable in the strings). A few noticeable tape cuts, nothing major. Listened from DVD-R, with hires flac.
Cheers

The Everly Brothers - Five Classic Albums.
Another good one from the fine chaps at Real Gone Music.
As always, expertly remastered, and something of a bargain over on The River at around a tenner.

Miles Corbin - Musiaue de Paradiso
It was recommended by a friend, so I thought I would give it a spin.
Enjoyed this last Friday so I am taking it back out for another spin......
Jussi Lehtonen - This time
- Jussi Lehtonen - Drums
- Jesse van Ruller - Guitar
- Joonatan Rautio - Sax
- Mikko Helevä - Organ
Good hard bop jazz. I bought this album because I am fan of Jesse van Ruller. If you like his music, than you will like this album as well.
Complilation of awesome Dub Electronica from a great label.
Cross referencing with the fascinating Steely Dan Dictionary.
Warp recordings + Dub Electronica - can only really mean this great one.
Yello - Flag.
Over on another forum, there's a topic discussing "driving music", so this was my suggestion, with the proviso that "The Race" seems
to encourage over enthusiastic use of the "go" pedal.
Glass of Red in hand, this is great wind down music after a heavy day (and that's just Guildford traffic !)
Jack Johnson - Sleep Through The Static
On CD:-
Steely Dan - Gold
Enough chamber music. It's time to blow away the cobwebs. One of my favourite albums. And one of the best album covers too.
(1995)
Recorded live on tour during the summers of 1993 & 1994 - August 19th and September 19th of those years. Well recorded and recommended if you don't have it and want to add to your studio Dan collections.

Got this set a few months ago Dave. Good isn't it?
Taken from the 22 album box set. Quite a late from the 'classic' era, but still some great music making.

Hi Steve,
Yes, and after years of dodgy remasterings elsewhere, which often sounded inferior to the original recordings, the chaps at Real Gone are turning out consistently good offerings.
Some of the old Blues albums which I've bought have been brought entirely back to life, courtesy of Real Gone.

Dave, I agree in the main although I have bought a couple of boxsets from them that are less than stellar but probably no worse than other CDs knocking about. However the excellent to very good quality of the set's that you and I have bought outweigh the occasional "average" set, basically its all good news.
Now playing
Miles Corbin - Sounds From The Tiki Hut
I took a spin with Miles earlier today with his Spanish influenced albumin and now taking a journey to the islands.....
