2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Jon Balke - On and On
Doing some reading up on Amina Alaoui, the name Jon Balke came up in regards to a different album......
......sometimes you don't always get what you want, but if you try real hard you get what you need.
Having listened to a couple of tracks, this is exactly what I need as I head towards the end of the day. Ya, possibly the last album of the night, very nice.......
This is a fantastic album!
A nice recording and looking forward to the new one, while the absolute preferences for these pieces are for me with Sudbin, Horowitz and Pogorelich
Often overlooked in the Fairport catalogue, but there are some great songs. And, of course, there's the marvellous voice of Sandy Denny.
This was recorded 45 years ago tomorrow. I only have the double CD version, which does, however, include 'The Heavenly Music Corporation' both reversed and at half speed.
Sounds decent, a typical U2 song...

a little something to wake up with this morning.
Stravinksy "The Rite of Spring": MusicaAeterna conducted by Teodor Cuurentzis
24/192 download playing through a five day old Uniti Nova
An intensely riveting, visceral performance of "The Rite", which leaves me metronomically transfixed: absolutely stunning.

Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat, K271...Mozart's first piano concerto masterpiece!
Charles Mingus - Mingus plays piano
From allmusic:
This album is unique in Mingus' enormous catalog. As the title indicates, the famous bassist takes to the ivories solo to give life to his dazzling improvisational art. At first it seems odd to hear Minguswithout one of his trademark interactive and exploratory ensembles. But the sensibility that he brings to this collection of piano pieces bears all the signs of the composer's genius.
In the first piece, "Myself When I Am Real," turbulence and aching beauty merge in Mingus' spontaneous unfolding of phrases. Such standards as "Body and Soul" and "Memories of You" are given personal, harmonically intriguing readings that blend in seamlessly with a Mingus original like "Old Portrait." In many ways, it is a treat to hear the artist working in this pared-down, quieter atmosphere, as it allows one to concentrate more intently upon the range and compositional brilliance of this incomparable figure.
David Fray - Bach keyboard concertos
A modern approach to the keyboard concertos. Very enjoyable.
Blackfoot Maurader
A talented band and quite underrated Southern band in the scheme of things in regard to Rock music.
Gary Moore

Baroque Masterpieces for Harpsichord - Trevor Pinnock
Scarlatti Sonatas Kk 124, 87,46
Handel Suite No 5 'Harmonius Blacksmith'
Rameau Pieces en Concerts La Livri, L'Agacante, La Timide, L'Indiscrete, La Pantomime
Maurice Green Overture in D Major from 'Six Overtures for Harpsichord'
Arne Sonata No 6 in G from 'Eight Sonatas or lessons for the Harpsichord'
Scarlatti Sonatas Kk 490, 491, 492
This CD belonged to my late cousin. Wonderful recordings that sound amazing in their presence and clarity. There are few better anthologies of Scarlatti in the catalogue. Pinnock chose a mellow instrument here, making his stylish, crisply rhythmic performances even more attractive. The CD progressively got more enjoyable.
The South American river site has a different track listing to mine.

really good album. Enjoying this one.
Personally I think it is one of this years best albums. Shame about the compression.
