2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

The Naim app continues to be flakey and is now denying the existence of this album in my library, resorted to Tidal but why should I have to?

Hmm, very strongly tempted but it could make for a long night...

Isabelle Faust's approach to the Mendelssohn concerto is at once period instrument and thoroughly modern, and the result is fascinating and frankly at times hard on the ears - beauty of tone and melancholy are way down the list of priorities. I think that ultimately, too much of what is good about the work is lost. Heras-Casado is one of today's most interesting conductors on the scene and his Mendelssohn cycle promises to become a landmark (only the 1st is still to come). Overall, however, not recommended.

One of my all-time favorites. Summer of 1979. Saw the movie before hearing the album. It was my second date (and first movie date) with the young lady who later agreed to become Mrs. Hook. ![]()
Excellent live version of Stiletto on this 4 song EP

This CD was recorded live at the Greenwich Village bar that, for 25 years, showcased the best jazz pianists in the world. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate, the audience hip and respectful; this collection reflects that history as it reveals three veteran masters at their best.
Why? Because it's still great.

One of the rare releases from Zimerman.
Fine, will listen it with the FOCAL ELEAR I'm testing beside the AKG 812K
