What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Another from Monsieur Tellier. L'Aventura.
Just Finished.......
Norma Winstone - Well Kept Secret
A+ 24/96. Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems
Hal. Three chaps from Dublin on this 2004 Rough Trade album. Melodies, tunes, harmonies. A brilliant Oxfam lunchtime find.
Howard Shelley - Hummel
(1970)
Quite a while since I have listened to this one from a fine sounding 1987 DJM Records (West German) CD.
Love this so much.
A+ 24/96. Eric Clapton - Live In San Diego
Clannad - Magical Ring. This is always a fine demo LP, beautiful music too. Although 'Theme from Harry's Game' was the track which seemed to attract most radio air time, it's the gorgeous 'Coinleach Ghlas an Fhómhair' which is for me their finest moment.
(1976)
Sticking with EJ and this one of my favourites. From an early original (1987) Mercury label CD, hearing this again I prefer its broader dynamic range (14) to the the SHM-CD.

Got mixed up with Hywel Bennett there, for a moment.
McCoy Tyner - The real McCOY
From allmusic.com
Two and a half years after his last recording as a leader for Impulse, pianist McCoy Tyner emerged to start a period on Blue Note that would result in seven albums. Having left John Coltrane's Quartet in late 1965, Tyner was entering a period of struggle, although artistically his playing grew quite a bit in the late '60s. For this release, the pianist is teamed with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Elvin Jones for five of his originals. Highlights of the easily recommended album include "Passion Dance," "Four by Five," and "Blues on the Corner."

Dougie Maclean - Resolution
........a fine album, really enjoyed the album!
Seakayaker: glad you are enjoying Dougie's music. I would recommend the follow albums
Indigenous
Marching Mystery
Riof
Edward
Diana Krall - Love Scenes
...now Grover Washington Jr - Winelight
Trying out my SuperLumina DIN/XLR on a couple of treasured Hi-res downloads. Diana has never sounded cooler (in a good way) and Grover sounds funkier than a very funky thing.
This cable is the dog's whatsits!
Now Playing......
James McMurtry - Childish Things
......continuing to explore James's catalog
Les McCann - The Truth
Why? Because its nice relaxing West coast Jazz & I havn't heard it for over 24 hours...
I was a little underwhelmed by this the first time I played it, but tonight it is sounding bloody marvellous! That could be helped by a new preamp which seems to work very well with the NDS.
Prompted by NigelB - one of my favourites. On vinyl.
Stunning vocals from Patti LaBelle on the title track.
Antonio Forcione - Live
Still supposedly evaluating my new cable but have resorted to just listening to great music - which is always a good sign of acceptance of a new bit if kit.
This is sounding absolutely wonderful - also another good sign!
Antonio's live (and solo) version of Acoustic Revenge on here is stunning.

I've also recently played this album for the first time in ages. I think it's underrated - I have it on both vinyl and CD. In fact, I have been thoroughly enjoying re- visiting a lot of albums from the 70s that I bought as a teenager.
Sinatra at The Sands
Apart from the monologues, love it.
