John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts
Taking a lead from DAYJAY who mentioned this album, something new to me so I thought I would take it out for a spin......

I've struggled with Pale Green Ghosts. I really like his album before this, Queen of Denmark. I'll have to give PGG another go.
Now playing.......
Dougie MacLean - RIOF
Continuation of the exploration of Dougie's catalog. Thanks to TED_P for the recommendation.
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897): Emanuel Ax (piano), Leonidas Kavakos (violin), Yo-Yo Ma (cello)
The Piano Trios
I am an Emanuel Ax fan but on first listen I just get the impression that this was hastily put together by Sony. I also wonder how many rehearsal time these individuals get together? All excellent musicians but this is a drawback compared to groups that live with the music together for years on end.
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Swiss Piano Trio
Complete Works for Piano Trio Vol. IV
Recorded with much better balance than the Brahms earlier. I really like this group.
Via Audirvana Plus 3.1.4 (A+3)
(2010)
Gazpacho the Norwegian "Post progressive art rockers" remained on great form with this one, a happy random pick from the library.
Now playing.......
Malija - Instincs
A little morning jazz!
Taking the recommendation from HungryHalibut above and taking Malija out for a spin......
Ivan Paduart - Enivrance.
Nice jazz by a Belgium pianist.
Ivan Paduart (piano, compositions)
Philippe Aerts (double bass)
Hans van Oosterhout (drums)
A+3 into Uniti Atom
(2007)
A little more Gazpacho before dinner. This is from the deluxe version of their original studio album with the second CD being live stuff. Playing the excellent studio album, CD 1.

I just love Ms. Barber. From the voice to her arrangements to the SQ of her recordings. No wonder original copies of her albums go for a premium. Every album is very special!
Anouar Brahem Trio - Astrakan café
Great to work to. Great to sip a glass of red to. Great to cook to. But astonishingly only Haim and myself seem to know of it. The Astrakan paradox.

Michael McDonald - Wide Open
With a mention from EWEMON and STEVEE_S above I thought I would take it out for a spin. Love the opening track, looking forward to the rest of the album.
You need to give it a real listen as I found some of the trax didn't click with me first time out.
Thought it was a kinda of Reg day today. Not sure why he isn't more well known as he is a fantastic songwriter.
On original vinyl
Why? All these US blues types, I thought it time to try this side of the Pond
steve
Lizzzzzz Wright - The Orchard
Great album and a lovely voice. What's not to like.
Sean Rowe - Madman
With my new cable, Sean is sounding superluminous!
Belter!
Now playing.......
Grover Washington Jr. - Winelight
A Mention from NIGELB regarding this album caught my attention and thought I would give it a spin.......
Exquisite recordings (from 1973 & 1974) and playing.

Anouar Brahem? Never heard of him.
The Barock Harpsichord - Lionel Rogg - vinyl
This is an absolutely scintillating LP for those who enjoy classical music. With some of my more esoteric suggestions I am trying to persuade those who might not think about the works that there is simple pleasure to be had.
It has works by
1 Buxtehude: Prelude & Fugue In G Minor
2 Buxtehude: Suite In C Major
3 Sweelinck: Chromatic Fantasia In D Minor
4 Muffat: Passacaglia In G Minor
5 Froberger: Lamento
6 Froberger: Toccata In D Minor
7 Bohm: Suite In C Minor
Don't be put off if you have not heard of any of these composers. What you hear is the Ruckers Harpsichord of 1730 playing music of that period or earlier. Instruments of that period are plucked with quills. In the 17th and 18th centuries the whole instrument was made to amplify and develop the wide range of harmonics present when a string is plucked by a quill. To the initial sharp attack of the quill the instrument has to add depth and serenity.
The cover goes into the differences between the modern and period instruments.
I'm not sure this LP has been remastered.
Does any Barock enthusiast know of more recent recordings using period instruments?
