Hvel by Árstíðir
Thanks to David the OP of this and Paul above, this has been a really good find, I've greatly enjoyed it this morning. Its slightly cheaper to download from Bandcamp at the moment (€9) than to buy the CD when you factor in postage.

Rather fine progressive rock mixed in with ambient electronic from these two Croydon lads.
Was hinted to this, interesting jazzy music...
With Kenny Burrell on guitar and a superb RVG recording. Bliss.

BBC R3. Brahms by Rattle, two mics straight to the mixing desk, then to the lathe's cutting head direct to vinyl. No tape recorder.
R3 spanking themselves with pleasure over this, so just flagging it up for audiophiles. If you know any.

having a Morcheeba session with this horrible cold weather. Very well recorded it is too.

Edgy listening for a Saturday morning: The Dame's best 1990s LP, on double white vinyl. Picked at random.
Moderato Cantabile
Anja Lechner (cello) and Francois Couturier play the music of Komitas, Gurdejieff and Mompou. A fascinating recording.
I've just been shot...

With the Our Price sticker for added authenticity!
Prompted by Tony2011, I played a couple of old cassettes last night. What a thoroughly enjoyable experience it was. I always forget how much I enjoy tapes - I should use the Nak and play them much more often.
Anyway, time to fire up the Dragon again - here's an excellent tape-only compilation, given away free with the NME in 1984. For a 33 year old tape it sounds remarkably fine.
Features monk, Miles, Brubeck, Bill Evans, Art Pepper, etc. Details here: https://www.discogs.com/Variou...ople/release/1650445

That takes me back Kevin - used to eagerly await the next free one.
This is another one I remember well.
All long gone now...

Sorry Nick, for some reasons your pics aren't visible....
Much to the chagrin of those around me, I have an inability to throw things away - hence I still have 1,000+ cassettes, dating back to the 1970s...
Still have at least a dozen of those NME freebies. Also some Sounds, Record Mirror and Melody Maker ones...
1st run...
More tape music. Anyone who doubts what a good source cassette tape can be, should listen to a decent quality tape on a Nakamichi or similar.
Here's James Chance & The Contortions' Soul Exorcism, a brilliant live album recorded in Holland in 1980 and released in 1991 on cassette only by ROIR. More details here: https://www.discogs.com/James-...cism/release/4474759

Smile Jamaica- its showing now I think.
1000 cassettes ! Wow.
I've had various clear outs and losses over the years & no cassette player for a very long time .
