2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

On CD, just received in post today. Not as immediately accessible as previous releases by PSB. Evocative and definitely a grower - looking forward to hearing them perform in Leeds in October.
Jean Michel Jarre Equinox parts 1-4 on original vinyl. I had forgotten just how good this album is. Having just experienced the Waterlicht laser installation in Wynatt's Pass I was disappointed In the download which consisted only of voices talking about laser art, geology and isostacy. We shared the experience with our friendly Norse DJ Murry, who agreed that a bit of ambient music a la Jarre would not have gone amiss. So here I am in the dark safety of the living room letting the sound wash over me like the lasers and theatrical smoke an hour ago, the music as fresh as the first time I heard it In the late 70s. Crystal.

When I asked my 16yo Son to choose an album I did not expect this. Good choice as it is with Richard Burton, not the later version with Laim Neeason that left me cold.
I use this album every year as a teaching aid to students keen to escape reality with a past future scape. They are always thrilled at the musical dexterity of the performance and it's links to the book. I still remember the thrill of the launch and hearing the music for the first time in W H Smiths, and then borrowing the LP from my local library, listening post-newspaper round on an Ecko music system with Philips headphones which had separate tone and volume sliders for each can. Such was Eisengaard in days of yore.
Now Playing......
Antonio Forcione & Sabina Sciubba - Meet Me In London
.....a lovely album for the start of a Friday Evening after a somewhat hectic week.
Guns N Roses-Appetite For Destruction
Loud like I'm 15 again.
My Desk Top Client bot is telling me this is my most played item. Fair enough, happy to give it another.
Monk, before plunging into #5 of the new Ken Burns Vietnam documentary airing for ten consecutive nights:
Art Ensemble of Chicago - People in Sorrow, recorded in Boulogne, Paris 1969. Vinyl rip, can also be found on the 'Pathe Sessions' CD
Just finishing......
Sean Rowe - New Lore
I did another viewing of the movie 'The Accountant' this evening which ends with "To Leave Something Behind" and needed to give Sean a spin.......
Up next......
John Grant - Queen of Denmark
I gave a listen to 'Pale Green Ghosts' the other day and thought I would give another John Grant album a spin.
Starting with some Milos...
John Butt / Dunedin Consort - Bach: Magnificat
Wonderful music. Very well performed by John Butt and the Dunedin Consort.
Sound quality is also very good.
I was watching something on TV last night as was somehow reminded of Sade, although I'd not actually heard anything by her. Strange how musical association works!
This is the 'Best of' album, but sounding remarkably good.
Many fine foot tappers
Staying with Bach, John Butt and the Dunedin Consort.
This time the Matthew Passion.
No-one else has ever heard it. But it pops out every now and then and is rather good.
Great 90s pop on vinyl
Continued later with some soundtrack...
