What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Robert Plant - Carry Fire.
Persevering with this one, as it didn't grab me straight away.
I think I'm starting to "get it" now .................. wouldn't be the first time that a slow burner has turned into a favourite album.
Hot Chip - The Warning
Dancey, noughties electro-tinged. (Hardly nails it).
This fabulous Freddie H seven album set is providing a lot of Friday evening relaxation.
And must say i'm impressed with the sonic Q on these budget Real Gone Jazz sets : )

Dave, you must have the patience of Job. Apologies to all atheists and pagans around here!

That looks interesting, Debs. Pity there is no Backlash, my favourite album.
The new album from the very fine Anouar Brahem, released today. On first listening, it's very good indeed.

Yup, Tony, "slow burner" is proving to be something of an understatement ............... still, onwards and upwards!

Getting to the end of my first play through, not grabbed me immediately, I think it may be a grower, on 1st listen it seems a bit loungey, but some lovely singing in Percy’s hushed whisper style, and lush textures. I’ll give it a few more streams over the weekend, see where I get to with it.
Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings.
That's quite enough of Percy for this evening, ......................... so, back to basics.
As it says on the tin, "The Complete Recordings", from a man who left behind a musical legacy that continues to influence and
inspire. An essential part of the collection, for anyone who's interested in the blues.

Did ya say grower? This might help...

Covers the "slow burner" aspect too ............... you might be right.
The later albums haven't grabbed me as much as this one. Sounding very good tonight...

St Vincent - MASSEDUCTION
Brand new out today. I have only played about half of it but so far its great. Tons of hooks.
The only tack I've heard to date is "Los Ageless", and if that's representative then I'll be taking a punt on this album.
Fancied a bit of soundtrack action. Love this CD.
Final one for tonight. Still rather magical.
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine (Jubilee edition)
Especially the track "Bats in the Attic"
1975 - vinyl - UK first pressing...
Very much a late night, and ideally after a few glasses album, yet utterly compelling.
Possibly my album of the year so far.
This version is Hi Res with bonus live trax
Many previous mentions on this thread, but worth another flag if only to anyone who doesn't yet know it. The ensemble is perfect, the music supremely diverse and original, but above it all is the other worldly talent of Jeff himself. No one else on the planet can do what he does with his Strat. Chill-bumps galore and exemplary HiFi too.
6 of the 13 trax on the album
Some of the live trax off the up and coming Deluxe version of Hotel California.
The piano of Danilo Rea at the first chance to sit down today.
Now Playing.....
Natalie Merchant - Motherland
Going to go with mention from Clive B and play some Natalie Merchant.....
I love her voice, and the song Motherland is outstanding.....
She also sings a wonder version of motherland on this NPR Tiny Desk concert (28 minutes), just click on the below link
