2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Why? Track 1, side 1 is my equipment test piece and, as I've had a hearing aid fitted today, I thought it was the logical test. And it seems to be fine...

And the second RT album of his current release, again acoustic versions, now of some of his bruised and beaten songs, wonderful songs played and sung by a great guitarist singer.
The albums one misses on one’s travels, an excellent laid back encounter

Amazingly well formed at birth they were, with their subsequent history one can tend to forget what a good debut this was.
Hope the hearing aids work out well. Had to take the plunge myself about a year and a half ago and listen to more music than ever (albeit they needed a little tweaking at the start).

Stan Getz Quintet - Jazz at Storyville (v1-3).1951, Getz is in fine form at age 24! CD-rip
Now playing.....
Everything But The Girl - The Language of Life
I saw this mentioned in the past couple of days and it caught my attention. I never heard or played anything by this group. Reading up I saw that Joe Sample (piano, keyboards), Russell Ferrante (piano, keyboards), Michael Brecker (saxophone), & Stan Getz (saxophone) were involved with the album and thought I would give it a spin. Through the first tracks and has a smooth jazz sound.......

Robert Plant - Carry Fire
There's been a fair amount of discussion on here about Percy's new album, lots of folks, including me, who weren't immediately grabbed by it.
After three or four days listening, (not exclusively!), I finally "get it", and now appreciate what a fine album this is, full of Eastern influences, and much more, all adding up to a coherent whole.
Well done Robert and The Sensational Space Shifters, ...........what a band!
Dave, after reading your comments I played this album a couple of more time today. It has a few tracks that grab my attention, my favorites are the opening track 'The May Queen' and the title track 'Carry Fire.' I can say that as a whole the album would not be the first one I reach for but like yourself and others, there are albums that grow on you over time. I'll continue to give it a spin on occasion and see if the magic happens......

He was on Jools Holland playing from this album, sounded pretty good and the band were really tight musically, behind him. The album is certainly growing on me.
This from last night a most enjoyable late PF album.
The Division Bell (1994 UK 11-track CD.
This is a new discovery for me. I heard the Kodaly and Ravel played locally on Sunday and liked them so much I bought them on this album. You can’t go wrong with Julia Fischer.
Haven't played this for a few years but it's a great listen. Cd top but only £5 or so on The River.
