What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Today's arrival
Recorded in 1985. It is so much more fun for me to unearth old albums instead of just getting the latest releases that every one talks about.
"Kenny Barron, one of those talented pianists who always seems to be underrated, breaks away from playing standards and conventional bebop on this frequently exciting trio date. Matched up with bassist Dave Holland and drummer Daniel Humair, Barron explores five of his originals and Carmen Lundy's "Quiet Times." The fresh material and close interplay between the musicians make this set one of Barron's best trio recordings to date."(AllMusic)
Donald Byrd Band & Voices - A New Perspective (1963). 1988 Blue Note CD rip. I saw Donald Byrd in a couple of nice posts here earlier and thought of listening to this one.
Time to declare, I'm afraid, 'cos I'm off oot in half an hour ........... so .................. full house here, (three of a kind with a pair).
Live At The Greek. Live At Carnegie Hall. Live From The Albert Hall.
Plus, of course, the pair you already knew about.
Blues Deluxe. Acoustic from Vienna Opera House.
Not to mention the one up my sleeve ............... Blues of Desperation.
Ok, what ya got?
Now Playing.......
BILL EVANS - SUNDAY AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD
Bill Evans (piano), Scott LaFaro (bass), and Paul Motian (drums)
A fantastic album!
Review in All About Jazz can be found here:
Another split album from the 24/96 download from Qobuz. My favourite Sabbath, so many classsic heavy rock songs.
Briefly compared to a CD Rip, the hired download seems to be a lower SP level, matching the volumes gives them an equal depth of sound and slightly better clarity from the 24/96.

I love this. Gorgeous stuff.
To think, if Tony had not decided to take a punt on this and by chance buy the vinyl version of this from his local HiFi emporium on a visit for another reason and post it on here, I may never have had the joy of listening to this talented young lady!
Life's strange.
Me neither.
Telegraph Road is sounding particularly sublime this evening
First, Metronomy - Summer 08
Now taking it down a notch or two with John Martyn - Inside Out.
There's just something about John Martyn on vinyl.
The Tommy disc (ripped) from the full gig CD release (which was reordered to put the Tommy tracks on the second disc). As I said listening to the vinyl, Damn they were a great live band. Majestic!
Now Playing
Kenny Barron - Scratch
Taking the lead from HAIM RONEN above with his mention the Kenny Barron album......
Streaming from TIDAL.
.....note from TIDAL: Kenny Barron, one of those talented pianists who always seems to be underrated, breaks away from playing standards and conventional bebop on this frequently exciting trio date. Matched up with bassist Dave Holland and drummer Daniel Humair, Barron explores five of his originals and Carmen Lundy's "Quiet Times." The fresh material and close interplay between the musicians make this set one of Barron's best trio recordings to date. ~ Scott Yanow
Opening track has Kenny playing an upbeat number and his piano sounds sweet.
Great singer songwriter, some glorious songs brilliantly sung and played.
Nice new album with typical ECM chamber jazz, however with a bit of spice....
Dizzy Reece - Blues in Trinity (rec. at Decca Studios, London in 1958). CD-rip.
Pearl Jam. Vs. On the original and very difficult to open "Eco-Pak jewel box" CD from 1993. Good, honest, aggressive music.

This one of my all time favorite albums and the best of D. Byrd! I found"Cristo Redentor" to be the source of long introspection since I was 17 years old! Such a beautiful mix of instruments and voices. Going to play it on vinyl now
the best
Live. Throwing Copper. On CD from 1994. First listen, I'm familiar with several tracks from FM airplay back in the day. Excellent album overall with strong music and lyrics.
Stone Temple Pilots. Purple. On CD from 1994. Another first listen to an album with several popular tracks I know well from FM radio way back when. A very good album and the track "Pretty Penny" is notable for its immediate, intimate recording quality.
Schubert, String Quintet in C major, on R3.
Magnificent, even at very low volume.
Thomas Gunther - Bach as Europäer.

Thanks for posting this one Brilliant! I don't know Dizzy Reece, but it looks interesting. Always nice to discover new music from the famous Blue Note period.
Regards, Jeroen.

Morning Dave, apologies for the late reply, I too ended up going out last night. Here is my declaration with screenshots from my Audirvana library:
And this with Beth Hart, which has reminded me to add a couple more from their gigs together.....
