Joss Stone - Water For Your Soul

Joss Stone does reggae inna soul stylee - OK, OK, this is bonkers I know, but it is rapidly becoming a current favourite of mine.

Four Tet - New Energy

I mentioned this album a few pages ago and I was heartened to see it produceda lot of likes. I was sort of saying that there was just another bloke and I who liked it.  Somebody said their favourite was track 8, You are Loved. Definitely agree. It's kind of flippy, trippy, happy.

This is just one of those albums that's so hard to put back on the shelf.

Dan Tepfer - Eleven Cages

Dan Tepfer - Eleven Cages

Going with a  mention from JEROEN20 from a couple of days ago. He mentioned it was something new to him but since it was jazz trio I thought I would roll the dice and give it a listen as well.  Oh, I am also a sucker for anything with a water view.......

Enjoyed the tempo on the first track and the second track has turned around to a slow moving beat....... enjoying the music so far.

A beautiful album by Ms Gardot. But then they all seem to be.  A wonderfully talented lady.

Lovely performance of the Elgar,  du Pré and Barbirolli remains my favourite, but this is an insightful reading which brings out the emotion. The Walton is lush and lovely.

Emily Remler - East to Wes

Emily Remler - East to Wes

I am going with the mention and 'Highly Recommendation' from JEROEN20 and giving this album a spin.  The opening track 'Daahound' is wonderful.......

And her version of 'Softly as in a Morning Sunrise' is truly sublime. Oh, and then there's 'Blues for Herb'. If you're really interested to find out more about Emily, please have a look at allthingsemily.com - it's a tremendous source of information, transcriptions, unreleased live recordings (dozens), lessons etc. In fact, all things Emily.

Spandau Ballet - Once More - Oxfam CD £2.99

Enjoying this after giving the Power Supplies much more space. The lead singer is really good as are the rest of the band. Super lyrics. The T for timing in PRaT is very important. Not sure most people understand what effect timing has on the music. Darke Bear’s Naim Torque thread gave details of the spacing problem and how to solve it. Timing makes the music sparkle as it did when recorded. Bad timing sucks the life out of the music. Some music is less sensitive to timing.

In my system the timing improved dramatically a week ago when the SuperCap DR was moved further away from the  300 DR PS. Some describe the improvement as better base and detail, but what it amounts to is the the notes are not blurred out by the high currents leaving the 300 DR PS. The magnetic field these currents generate which follow the power driving the speakers modulate the currents being delivered to the 282 by the SC DR. This is Maxwell’s Laws of Electromagnetism. Without very expensive equipment it is hard to fully understand where the weakness in the design is, but my guess is it is at the outlet to the power supplies. Increasing the spacing between them reduces the field strength.

Playing Grievious Angel from this ripped CD of Parsons’ 2 solo albums. Gram Parsons duetting with Emmylou, James Burton on guitar and Glen Hardin on piano, perfection.

A great couple of albums. It reminds me of when we were travelling in Southern California some years ago and after visiting Joshua Tree National Park, decided to spend the night in the Joshua Tree Inn at 29 Palms. We were asked if we wanted to stay in the Gram Parsons room. Mmm...we stayed in the adjacent room instead.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to play the album.

Asaf Avidan - The Study on Falling

Asaf Avidan - The Study on Falling

A mention by EWEMON yesterday caught my attention and placed in the TIDAL queue. The album cover, the artist's name ' Asaf Avidan,', the album title 'The Study on Falling' all captured my imagination and peaked my curiosity to listen to this album. So taking it out for a spin......
