What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Emmylou Harris. Luxury Liner. On original vinyl from 1976. I only recently became enchanted with Emmylou's vocals after adding "All The Roadrunning" to my holdings. Since then I've been adding more Emmylou albums. She has the sweetest, purest female voice in my collection and I'm looking to add more.
I seem to have been stuck in a 1970's progressive rock theme for months now, albeit with the occasional excursion into folk/folk-rock. But given how good the music is from that period, I guess it's understandable. And so it continues.
Jim Croce. You Don't Mess Around With Jim. On original vinyl from 1972. Well-recorded acoustic strings throughout this gem of a folk/pop album.

Playing the second of the two CD rips.
Started this morning with Bach. As always Murray Perahia's execution of the music is beautiful. The sound quality of this recording is excellent.
Now listening to Lee Ritenour and Dave Grusin's ' Two Worlds'. Jazz musicians working with classical musicians playing classical music.
Waking up to Radio Bossa Nova.
On original 1982 vinyl. A bit of classic New Romantic synth pop to start the day

We do that too! Goes well with the morning coffee.

From last night and on CD:-
The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street
A good start of the morning with the new one from David Fray. As always a lush tone, the tempi seem to be a bit on the slow side, but fitting well to the overall way he is interpreting the pieces...

Perge are one of the best modern day Berlin School bands whose music heavily reflects the influence of Tangerine Dream.
Thanks to KW for the HU on this excellent double album..
Vinyl.
REM - Automatic for The People
A great record for this time of day, I have just discovered.

I have seen you now a couple of times with tape postings, what about the sound quality of these tapes, anywhere close to your other sources ?

Bert, they are generally very good, although I'm not hugely obssesive about SQ.
Most of my tapes are 25+ years old and have been looked after very carefully, and are thus in tip-top condition. The Nakamichi Dragon is brilliant at playing back pre-recorded tapes, so often the SQ is as good as CD (although a long way behind vinyl).
Besides, playing cassettes is fun, and occasionally I will pick a cassette of an album over the LP or CD version, just for the hell of it.
The best of the later albums - I actually find it quite relaxing.

Late American release with, shock!, 'Let's Spend the Night Together' included.

An absolutely terrific album, what a pity it's so badly recorded...
On CD. I like some tracks better than others. IMO he has never bettered Oxygene 1.
I never owned this on vinyl before, only having the original CD release. However, just picked this up from one of the local s/h record stores for £4.00. A quick clean on the Okki Nokki and it's now sounding heavy and loud on the LP12. Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs.
