I notice this one is available as a hi-res download. Time hint unashamedly to the family about how much I rate this and what a wonderful Christmas gift it would make.
I downloaded it at 24/96, sounded excellent on the Nova.
After a stunning gig from Percy and the shape shifters last night, a blast of a fairly recent album he played a few from.
Eoink, a slight diversion for the Music Room, but I heard the Nova with the new Focal speakers at the HiFi Show in Ipswich. It was bonkers good. Brilliant fun and what a superb sound bearing in mind it is after all an all in one. For me the Nova now offers the best VFM in the entire range. I bet the new hi res Chris Stapleton album sounds superb with the wick turned up.
Enjoy.
Last album before bed, one of Richard Thompson’s 2 acoustic collections released a few months ago. What you’d expect if,you know him, superbly written songs, sung well, and played by one of the finest acoustic players on the planet. Yep, I like it.
OK, so it didn't fare so well when reviewed on Record Revie on BBC Radio 3 FM a few weeks back, and I haven't heard them all. but this is my favourite version of this beautiful music - Tchaikovsky's 6th, Pathétique.
Lizz Wright - The Orchard.
Soul?, Gospel?, Blues?
Impossible to define, but what's certain is that this lady can certainly sing, and the band are just loose enough to contribute to a
great late night album .................. highly recommended.
Doyle Bramhall ll - Rich Man.
Staying on the Gospel vibe, in this case, with a healthy dose of Blues and Soul flavour thrown in.
Long time sideman for Eric Clapton, his stepping forward into the spotlight was long overdue.
Q: How do you follow Gergiev?
A: With Latimer, of course.

Chick Corea and Stefano Bollani - Orvieto
Chick Corea (piano) and Stefano Bollini (piano)
Continuation of the ECM Records catalogue exploration....... Streaming on TIDAL......
Release Date: 03/09/2011
ECM note: Chick Corea and Stefano Bollani in their first recorded collaboration, a document of a most spirited gig in Orvieto’s Teatro Mancinelli last December. Effervescent virtuosity abounds as the two piano genii romp through a programme that includes Jobim’s “Retrato Em Branco E Preto”, the swing ballad “Darn That Dream”, Fats Waller’s “Jitterbug Waltz”, Miles Davis’s “Nardis”, blues, improvisations and more. The recording is Corea’s first new ECM date in more than a quarter-century.
Charles Lloyd and The Marvels - I Long to see You
Perfect on a cold night with a glass of something sustaining.
Massive Attack - Heligoland.
More late night trance goodness from Massive Attack.
Nighty night.

They also had two others: Supernature and Black Cherry. Should I snap them up? Which is your favourite from all her CDs?
Having seen lots of posts for Goldfrapp when I saw this one in my favourite record shop I snapped it up. My son who we were visiting was working from home and he said he really enjoyed seeing her at Glastonbury some years ago when he was on the staff. Mostly he remembered Black Cherry.
Must say this one is really good. I like her voice, the song arrangements, the sound effect and the backings.
Phil
Phil, all their albums are different and worth having, and choosing which one is the best is like choosing your favourite child. The best album IMNSHO is the one you have, their 2000 debut.
Also worth aquiring, in the following order, are:
Tales of Us (2013)
Supernature (2005)
Seventh Tree (2008)
Black Cherry (2003)
Head First (2010)
Silver Eye (2017)
The Singles (2012)
We Are Glitter (2006)

Just reading Kevin-W's comment above, regarding Goldfrapp,
"all their albums are different and worth having, and choosing which one is the best is like choosing your favourite child."
For me, much the same thing with Massive Attack, and I've come to the conclusion that my favourite album is most likely the one I'm
listening to at any given time.
Just MHO.

Yes - Yes Story
Started months ago ripping CD's and finally reached the Y's. A reason enough to play this album by Yes!

Loreena McKennitt - Live In Paris And Toronto
Turning to something a bit more mellow for dinner time on this Friday evening......
Streaming from NAS.......
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (1981). On HDCD from 2001. There are several well-known tracks here, but for me the real gem is the lesser-known "Nigh****chman" for its funk and groove.
Now Playing......
Dwight Yoakam - Gone
Something from the mid-90's, not many country albums where you have accordion, bass, drums, fiddle, guitars (acoustic, electric & steel), harmonica, keyboards, piano, organ, baritone saxophone, tenor saxophone, sitar, trombone, & trumpet along with 12 individuals in the credits of background vocals. Dwight left his honky tonk roots with this album, something different but I enjoyed the effort.
Streaming from NAS......
Bruce Springsteen. The Rising. On CD from 2002. Emotional and inspiring. The Boss' first release after 9/11 has notes of despair while simultaneously providing a good measure of hope and triumphant resolve. His theme to America on the final track My City Of Ruin - "Come on rise up!"

Tony, good to see that your commitment to dodgy album covers remains undiminished...
Enghave Barok - Bach cantatas 39, 194 and 240.
Opal Records 200g vinyl reissue. Because it's morning, obviously.
