2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
A live album (although you wouldn't know it - the audience were asked to keep quiet during the recording). One of Joe's best. CD rip.

question: is “Live in Europe” (the one with the tasty cover picture) already out somewhere in the world ? Bound to release Feb 8, here.
Nope the Live in Europe isn't out yet anywhere.
Well I'll declare to being one eager buyer waiting for it
Cleaninf out some music from old HDD's and discovered I have 92 Dexter Gordon albums out of which aboyt 4-5 are comps.
No wonder SWMBO keeps telling me that there is no way in hell I could play all the music I have before I pop my clogs.
KB at his absolute best in this beautifully recorded live set.
Nice.

Just the thing for a late breakfast in bed.

One of a few Xmas presents
Looking forward to Hyde Park next year
Craig Taborn - Daylight ghost
On this CD Craig Taborn (piano) plays in a quartet setting (with sax, bass and drums). It's a mixture of modern jazz, free jazz and that typical laid back ECM style.
I don't always like free jazz, but on this CD I liked it. Overall, I like this one from Craig Taborn. There are a few moments however where I think it's a bit borring.
Did continue later this morning with this one, not so my style, but ok...
Fresh and easy accessible jazz from a young trio from Luxembourg, I like it a lot...
Listening to Arthur Moreira Lima whom Max pointed out. Lima is mostly known for his Chopin playing.
Now Playing.......
Rodney Crowell - Tarpaper Sky
Streaming on TIDAL....... A quick pick from the available list of albums on tidal to follow up on Rodney's 'Close Ties' album which was very good!

John.
Start with his first album as it is brilliant.
Thanks Ewemon. Are you referring to 'Ain't Living Long Like This' (1978) or 'Rodney Crowell' (1981)?
John.
My favourite collection of Ellington compositions.

Well one thing led to another and when you're enjoying one of the finest quintets in jazz history, need I say more...
(1981 | 2014)
‘Fontessa’
Timeless classic from the MJQ. A superb mono recording too.
