What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Listening to this excellent CD of Kenny Garrett. This is with his quartet at the time. They play in a post-bop style, which I really enjoy. This CD contains only excellent tracks. And what is even more impressive is that al pieces on this CD are by Kenny Garrett. In a review of this CD I read, the reviewer stated that Kenny on this CD looked both back (at the old masters) and forward (to new concepts in jazz). I think he is right with that statement.

Lightning At The Door by All Them Witches
Rather like a heavier Allman Brothers, with greasy blues, Southern U.S. Gothic and psychedelic rock added into the mix.
EJS posted:A good surprise: BIS' latest issue introduces Chinese pianist Haochen Zhang to the wider public. A very serious young man by the sounds of it, not quite past the point of the 'every note is important' competition phase, but these are definitely performances to return to, full of integrity and with no place for showboating. Sound in hires is magnificent.
Cheers,
EJ
I also like this one, a pleasant surprise...
Kenny Dorham - Afro Cuban. Blue Note 24/96 flac. A nice one from 1955!

The Stone Roses on an original 1989 CD.
Thoroughly enjoyable 1980's mastered CD sound. Is it really 28 years old!
Biffy Clyro, Only Revolutions on CD.
An album packed full of Huge songs, great choruses and heart-felt lyrics.
Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um. It's the only Mingus album I own and I haven't played it for a very long time. CD rip.
Earlier, the new Elbow album, which is getting quite a few runs on Tidal. Very enjoyable.
Tracy Chapman on CD.
Beautiful, enough said.
Coldplay - "Mylo Xyloto" (2011)
The recordings on this live set must have been recorded around the time that I saw him in Bristol. At the time the spacey sounds were just too far out for my ears, but these days I'm just loving it. Brilliant live sound. Steve Hillage - Live Herald
Marc Ford, Holy Ghost, WAV CD Rip.
Something different from the Black Crowes Guitarist.
Side Two is a near-perfect suite of songs, in particular "One Step Up":
The sense of lost hope and world-weariness he puts into the lines:
"…when I look at myself I don't see the man I wanted to be,
somewhere along the line I slipped off track…"
Gets to me every time - one of many of Bruce's finest songs
Trying to get more appreciation for the fortepiano, still not my favorite instrument, let's see if my preferences change by listening to Kristians exquisite playing every now and then....
Recorded in 1978.
Zoot Sims - Tenor Saxophone
Jimmy Rowles - Piano

I called it excuisite playing, sometimes his playing is quite forceful, even kind of rough....., so the other one I have now...
