I found this first episode of the three to be a total disappointment, very poor story line, poor narrative, even boarding on ridiculous, thatcher busts getting a bashing possibly the only highlight...

Not even inclined to watch the next one...is it just me or am I expecting to much?

Three episodes is hardly a series. Maybe Bandit Bumperscratch is too expensive these days.

3 episodes of 90 minutes each is more television as 6 episodes of 30 minutes which is what things like Fawlty Towers was. And a lot of British Drama is 2-6 episodes long these days. (And always was.)
