DVD5

Since my CDX2 has gone in anticipation of a Core and an as yet unselected DAC or streamer (the 555ps is still handy in case of need) I'm slumming it with  a DVD5 until said Core turns up. I'm quite pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds Powerlined and Hilined on the bottom shelf of my brawn stack and feeding a 500DR system, even with the Hiline touching the carpet. Its pace is rolling rather than rocking which suits the folk and chamber music I've played on it so far. Thinking back to when the Naim DAC came out I remember Richard picking it as one of the better transports along with a Meridian something or other. I wonder how it would suit a Hugo?

I used the DVD5 as my CD/DVD transport for a year or so, I think it is rather good. I bought it for my AV setup and then compared it to my Modified Arcam A5; I ended up selling on the A5 and then buying an nDAC, when it was released, which was fed by the DVD5.
