MUSO buffering

Posted by: Red Rooster on 07 January 2017

Hi all,

Seems the internet gets busy every weekend and listening to my regular BBC Radio 2 shows on Saturday evenings continues to be a pain from buffering on my MUSO. The Naim app indicates I have to reconnect manually using the iPad or iPhone or the MUSO itself.

Is this correct? My Roberts Radio iSteam automatically reconnects when buffering is over etc. Keep having to get up off the settee with the MUSO.

Internet signal is above 3Mbs and Devolo network speed to the MUSO is over 150Mbs>

Thanks

Have you tried it with a proper wired Ethernet, rather than those horrid develo things?

Hi,

Not possible but the  devolos are utterly brilliant imho. My KDS etc works perfectly , as does the Roberts iStream radio. Just want to get the Naim to auto reconnect.

thanks

It may be worth trying connecting it to the router temporarily to see if that is indeed the issue. I read somewhere that it's not the internet speed that's the issue, but latency. At least if you connect to the router you'll know if it's under your control or not. It seems odd that the Linn and Roberts are happy though. I don't think there is any setting to make the mu-so reconnect automatically but may have missed it. Certainly our Qb has never had that problem.

Hi,

Thanks. That's my next step. Bloody annoying though when you're trying to enjoy the programs.

I agree, it's a real pain when the programme just stops, especially if it doesn't reappear automatically.

Wasn't there mention elsewhere that Naim were looking at reducing latency, can't recall which models though

Also, I was using PoE adapters, one of which was plugged in to a double socket with USB sockets, this caused drops

I've had mine a couple of years now and i had terrible drop outs (discussed in these forums) but it behaves a lot better now, but i still don't understand why it does it. It was that bad that it dropped out several times on a record, but it was good for the kids because they used to play musical chairs with it. Joking aside i still love it though.
