Posted by: ok8888 on 10 January 2017

My ndx afraid  bought in 2012,it's LCD is getting dark. I contacted my dealer at hongkong, they told me to repair the problem will cost a little money,I estimate the cost will be 10% of brand new ndx cost.

if the lcd donot display forever, and i could enjoy music with my ndx, even if it's lcd is down.

is it possible to setup ndx without the lcd?

thanks

Consider the repair cost ,I think to give up to repair my ndx LCD now, maybe someday I could not bear of the dark lcd ,get my ndx to repair.

They do have a finite life. I had my 2012 NDX's display changed some time back. One first sign is dead pixels appearing before the dimming happens.

I've read somewhere that the green displayes used by Naim have about a 2 year "always on" lifespan. So showing a clock or having a long display off timeout really shortens the lifespan. Usually this happens with UQ units because using them as a clock was popular.

There is no way to configure an NDX without a display. And since the resale value of one with no display is near zero it looks like getting it fixed is the only option.

Naim steamer's lcd uselife  just only two year is so short ,and that is not match with naim long time keeping good reputation.

I don't beleive this was known from the outset. I've worked with products before that had MTBF statistics that seemed plucked from thin air and never matched what was experienced in the field leaving the company I worked with with some very difficult questions to answer about why component X was used.

There is always 20:20 vision with hindsight.
