MuSo 2 and Qb 2?

I was thinking of getting myself a MuSo or Qb but then was wondering if the next generation MuSo might be in the offing to take advantage and embrace the new platform in the new Uniti range. I assume the MuSo has its own renderer and DAC just like a full scale streamer. So would it not benefit from the new platform also?

I may be way off here and if there was a MuSo 2 would it require a Core for serving duties rather than the UnitiServe I currently use? I realise a MuSo can be used with a UPnP enabled NAS but if one has a Naim server already then best to use that with the MuSo, right?

I think the point of a UPnP server is that any suitable streamer can play from them. I have a US and a Synology NAS, and they can both serve music via UPnP to a Naim streamer, a Yamaha streamer, and a Sony Walkman over the network. So I would just choose whatever NAS/server, Naim or other, that you choose for your main system, and let the Muso use it too.

As for Muso 2, I hope you're not holding your breath!

I'm afraid I do not completely understand your question. Nobody will know if and when a "mu-so 2" will be released. If there are plans, Naim will not share these with us ...

The UnitiServe and Core will be suitable UPnP servers for the mu-so and I doubt that you will be able to hear any differences between them listening through the mu-so...

So just to be clear, the US can be used with the new Uniti Streamers without any mods or firmware updates?

I realise Naim will quite rightly not share product development plans. I guess what I am asking is if the MuSo and Qb could benefit from the new Uniti platform if they were upgraded in some way or can a current Muso be used with a Core for example?

Both the US and the Core are upnp, so everything works with everything else, out of the box. That's the point of the word 'universal'.

A current mu-so can be used with a Core

.....or a Unitiserve, Synology/Minim, Readynas, QNAP/Asset, Melco, etc. Don't sweat it - the clue is in the name - Universal Plug and (usually) Play.....

And personally I would put real money on there not being a muso 2 or muso Qb 2 anytime soon, meaning years away not months away. Naim more have their hands full getting the new Unitis sorted and out of the door.

I expect that Naim will have developed & launched the 2 muso products, then turned their attention to the new streaming software platform of the Uniti range.  Once this is robust & launched, it would be logical to turn to the classic range next, perhaps with a new dac or NDX followed by others in the  classic range.  Finally, a Statement streamer.

So I wouldn't expect a muso 2 or qb 2 for a little while yet...

... but that's all being terribly logical & sequential.  If someone like B&W comes out with a muso beater in the meantime, then Naim will have to respond sooner.
