UPNP on ns servers?

Posted by: Claus-Thoegersen on 08 August 2011

Hi,

When I use the DTC and on the tools tab under settings and function, there appears a UPNP tab,  With supplied information from the NS01 that seem to imply that it can act as a UPNP av server. Is this correct? And is there a way to stream both music and internet radio to other devices, just to get radio synchronized in diferent rooms? Would it work without a rireless dungle attached to the ns01 itself, or by upnp units access the server over the usual wifi like the Apple Apps?

I have played around with aan Apple app that should work as a UPNP app, and it can see the ns01, but currently I cannot get music from the ns01 out on the iphone. It would be an almost optimal sollution, since I would not have to go out an buy new hardware.

The NS0x / HDX / UnitiServe all have a UPnP server built into their software - they can serve UPnP clients with music from any source that they have access to (so locally and network stored / ripped music as well as network shares). This is there for use with the Uniti / UnitiQute and NDX etc. This cannot be used to stream Internet radio.

The UPnP server can be set to stream in source format (Native), convert to 44.1kHz/16bit WAV format (CD) or convert to a WAV at whatever the bitrate of the source file (WAV Decode) ...

It sounds like the iPhone app isn't able to play the file format that it is being sent - Are there any errors given on the iPhone when it is trying to play?

Cheers

PlugPlayer works fine when fed via UPnP from the servers, I use it in the shower (sometimes) with a 3.5mm cable to boom box.
