struggling with tidal and spotify

Posted by: rohan on 18 January 2017

hi

First post on this forum so pls bear with me.

Off late I have been struggling with tidal , it drops out frequently then reconnects.- no errors just gaps of of approx 10 to 30 seconds. Used to work fine , i havent changed anything in my setup.

nac272/250dr/xpsdr/proacd40r connecting over devolo dlan 500 mbps( which has been working fine over the last 5 years). internet radio works fine no bufferring, i have a 50mpbs internet connection with the provider.

Have reset nac272 to factory, also logged tidal out and in, reset the naim app....

Any similar experiences of late?

Cheers

Try rebooting your router. Can't hurt.

Another question: do you have a NAS set up and can you stream reliably from it?

The reason for my quesitons is that I'm trying to establish if we are dealing with endogenous problems on your home network.

Endogenous eh? There's posh.

If no endogenous problems are found, we will move to examine the exogenous ones

 ☺

Yes have a synology 415 play running fine no issues.

Will give the router reboot a shot and report ina few hours. I think pw reset and logout on all devices on spotify should fix it. Will check tidal as well.

Thx

If NAS streaming and internet radio are working well I would check two things:
* Tidal / Spotify set up

* Get your internet provider to triple check your local upload speeds - you may need an external signal booster to handle the incoming traffic with a sufficient speed

If you have (as your post says) 50Mb/s internet connection & iRadio works OK,  I would try to by-pass that (yuk) Devolo dLAN as a temporary test.    It might be OK & work for some stuff but not others.

Regarding re-booting 'router';  while you're at it try a reboot of the whole system, turn off everything connected to the ISP wireless hub off, leave it off for 5 mins,  then restart the wireless hub first, let it complete its full restart process, then start the switch (if you have one) then Synology (let it finish), then 272,  then control point (iPad/Android)

Had to reboot router and then also reset naim to factory settings to make the streamer reconnect fresh to the spotify server. Then reinstalled naim app.

So far so good.

Thanks for the suggestions. Now have a new problem .. xps dr wont power up... Not my week.

You've probably blown the fuse. Have a look and change it if necessary - there should be a spare in the holder.

Posted on: 19 January 2017 by rohan

Yes changed the fuse and powered up fine thx

Posted on: 19 January 2017 by hungryhalibut

It's  a good idea to get a couple of spares from your dealer - just in case.

Posted on: 19 January 2017 by rohan

Yes hes looking... look like These arent standard 2.5 a fuses ..

No, they are special quick blow jobbies, and it's really important to use exactly the right one, and to put it in the right way round. Dealers usually get them from Naim.

What is the right way around? Will need to check. Powered up all right but havent connected it back to the 272 yet

SLOW blow (Anti-surge) able to absorb transformer inrush
