Empty Fraim Shelf - The Gods are Looking After Me

Maybe it's meant to be like that and having an empty shelf under the NDS may not be a bad situation

I hear Naim are coming out with an empty Naim black box designed specifically for those empty Fraim shelves and will be called the No Naim. It has extraordinary isolating properties that stops all the nasties from power supplies and transformers entering the delicate electronics of your Naim source.

It is rumoured that a DR version of the No Naim will be available soon and the No Naim non DR version will be upgradable. Even fresh air will be upgradable to DR fresh air in due course.

So Bart, before you get too smug, assuming your dealer can get hold of a No Naim, you do indeed have something to demo after all.

Doh I didn't think of that -- ha ha!  Naa won't go in that direction.  

I was "up" for some home auditioning, but tis not to be as none of the 3 dealers within a 50 mile radius of my home have any separates in house.  

I'll have to wait for that No Naim empty black box to hit the North American distributor.  Speaking of which Manu hasn't posted in a long time; hopefully he's just busy.

The headphones output of the SN2 is not very exciting, is it? What about a headphones amplifier? This would also leave you plenty of space on the shelf for a Raspberry Pi + hifiberry pro feeding the NDS via SPDIF. In a No Naim box, this combo could be aesthetically acceptable, I believe.  

Can't any of your dealers borrow a 282 and a 250 from the importer for you to listen to? They're just not trying.

I never never never listen with headphones at home.  Something about it doesn't work for me -- I get uneasy being so "isolated."  I have an irrational fear that someone will walk into the room and startle me.   I listen that way on an airplane fine  . . . but never have taken to 'phones at home.  Weird, I know.

Sure, I COULD. But at this point clearly the SN2 is the weaker of all the elements; not that it's weak in its own right!

I might see if the distributor will 'lend' a 282 and 250Dr to my dealer; that way I can try with my existing HiCap DR

Well a 282 250 made a very noticeable difference in my home vs my current SN2 level amp during a recent demo - even with a much lower caliber source than yours...

Bart, make sure your finances are in order before listening to the 282 & 250DR. It is a stonking combo and will sing beautifully with your NDS. I know from personal experience. 

I had this exact source/amp combo but used a SupercapDR on the 282 (as I was planning to move on to a 252). But I am pretty confident however your HiCapDR is all the power supply you will need.

Let us know if you are able to borrow them and what you think.
