Uniti Core / access web page (black)

Posted by: Lorenz on 20 January 2017

Hello,

received my Uniti Core today – have 3 issues at the moment. Will post topics separately for convenience...

2) Can't access Core web page though web browser

When I enter the IP address I do only see a black page. Nothing else.

Can't imagine, that this is supposed to be that way. What should it look like?

Best,

Lorenz

I was under the impression that the only controls available for the Core were via the app, unlike the Unitiserve. Also, I think some of the functions of the app might still be under development, maybe best to confirm this with Naim, though.

It's a very inky black though and does say 'Naim' on the tab. It holds promise.

This suggests that ChrisSU is right and some functionalities are under development. I think that it makes a lot of sense for Naim to start with a small set of functionalities and add functionalities upon user feedback. Still, given that the Core is supposed to be a music server with storage capabilities,  I am concerned about the lack of support for rsync. I would not want to copy to the Core a whole album when the only changes that I have made to a local copy is metadata editing. And the lack of support for editing metadata on the Core makes the lack of support for data transfer via rsync only worse. It is not a bad idea to keep things as simple as possible. But going too far that way, one ends up with things that are just unusable. My impression at this point is that the Core is essentially a ripping station and that the developers are thinking about what to make out of it. This would also explain the lack of detailed technical specifications and of a comprehensive user guide.

Hello,

thanks for verifying that the black screen is normal. Although I'm used to the loveless web interface of other Naim products like the Muso this is really a shame for Naim. Hope they will improve on this.

Best, Lorenz
