Mu-so & Naim App - Other Settings

Posted by: Mr Frog on 25 January 2017

On the latest Naim App v 5.4 (when using Mu-so), there is a setting called 'Cleaning mode' -

Settings > Other Settings > Cleaning mode

I've absolutely no idea what this is and if enabled, it makes no difference to the sound (currently just using iRadio, until NAS is re-installed).

I don't think it has anything to do with Cache, since there is a separate option to Clear image cache

Finally, there is another option entitled Tap for options ... which again (in the words of 'Toyah' 1981) is "a mystery to me" ...

There doesn't appear to be an explanation in the Mu-so manual ........ so any ideas?

Cleaning mode enables you to clean the knob without changing station or function.

Tap for options enables you to tap a track and play just that one, or from there, or add to a playlist. Try it.

Hungryhalibut - thanks for the fast response.

Once the NAS is re-installed, I'll certainly be able to try the Tap for options

In the meantime, I'm still a little unsure about the Cleaning mode .......... when you say; " ...clean the knob" ????

The big knob has the control panel in the middle. If you clean it, you will turn it on, change channels or inputs or something. But with cleaning mode on you can rub off the marmalade or soup quite happily.

Ah .. as in the large Rotary Control ........... (the big knob) - yes, that makes perfect sense now. Thought it was a typo!

Thanks again

In the settings menu, tap on he little ? at the top and you might learn something.

Completely missed that one! ...... though it is not as obvious on the iPhone display (greyed out and directly next to a bright white 'x' to exit)

Much more obvious on an iPad

Thanks for pointing it out - I have genuinely learnt several things

Well, I've never pressed that before - and it's rather useful. So as well as RTFM we have PTFQM.

And at least nobody can complain of TLDR

I did it all by myself.
