Radio interference

Got me a new Vandamme arm cable from Yannis Tome. I've installed it on my LP12/Ekos/Asaka connected to my NAC 72 with proper BNC plugs. Problem is I'm getting a huge amount of RF interference if I use the NA323K boards and not as pronounced with the NA323S ones but still there. This was not at all an issue with the original Linn arm cable using the same earthing arrangement and with any of the two above phono boards. Any ideas, please ??

I'd say the earth connection isn't, any test points on an Ekos, or is it an Ittok?

Kota - when you say RF interference - do you mean Radio Breakthrough i.e. you can hear radio - or is it RF interference resulting in a hardening of the sounds or high pitched whines or whistles in the background

If its the former its most likely due to poor source impedance matching of the cartridge to the phono amp inputs and/or  poor grounding of the cartridge and wiring shields - can also simply be a case of routing phono inter-connects differently  - if its the latter - then it usually best to hunt out the source like a bad SMPS, Fluorescent light, Powerline Adapters etc

Sorry to read of the problem with which I cannot help. But just so impressed that you are able to do such a job yourself. Hope you can resolve the issue.

Right. Thanks all for the replies.

Yes Simon I could actually hear some radio stations but I've managed to sort things out. Apparently I've got an earth loop somewhere in the system and my K boards are knackered too. I've disconnected the earth wire on the back of the 72 and no more problems using the S boards but swapping to the K's I'm getting a weird buzz that can only mean these are faulty. Ordered same spec new caps for it so let's see how they perform after I change them.

@Christopher.  Not really. I've been fettling my LP12's since the 80's and I do know them inside out

Cheers
